Blessed Are the Merciful describes the qualities of merciful people according to Matthew 5:7 and Luke 10:25-37. Merciful people have an eye for those in distress, have compassion in their heart for the hurting and needy, and make an effort to help those who are suffering through acts of kindness and goodwill. Being merciful means showing mercy to others, which the Bible teaches is how one will receive mercy themselves.
