An Exploratory Study of the Motivations and Satisfactions on Mobile Web BrowsingRuby Kuo
?
1. The study aimed to understand motivations and satisfaction with mobile web browsing using uses and gratifications theory. It conducted an online survey of 63 respondents about their mobile device usage, motivations for mobile browsing, irritations, and attitudes.
2. Factor analysis identified three positive motivation factors - "pass time and pleasure", "convenient to search", and "habit". It also identified two negative irritation factors related to the device and website design limitations.
3. Only the "pass time and pleasure" motivation factor positively correlated with intention for future use, while both irritation factors negatively influenced satisfaction as expected based on uses and gratifications theory.

The document explains refraction using a Perspex or glass block set at an angle. As light travels from air into the denser Perspex block, it slows down, causing the light waves to bend or change direction. Then, as the light exits the Perspex back into the less dense air, it speeds up again, causing further bending of the light waves. This bending or refraction of light is what allows objects to be seen even when they are not directly in our line of sight.

An Exploratory Study of Usability Practice from User-Centered Design View: M...Ruby Kuo
?
The document summarizes an exploratory study on usability practice from a user-centered design perspective in Taiwan's internet industry. Through in-depth interviews with 14 professionals, the study found:
1) Usability knowledge and skills were generally lacking, with most learning through experience rather than formal training.
2) Design methods were typically linear rather than iterative as recommended by user-centered design. Deadlines often took priority over usability.
3) While usability testing and prototyping were acknowledged as helpful, they were seldom used due to schedule and budget constraints. Users tended to be involved primarily to satisfy business goals rather than design goals.

IoT Devices Compliant with JC-STAR Using Linux as a Container OSTomohiro Saneyoshi
?
Security requirements for IoT devices are becoming more defined, as seen with the EU Cyber Resilience Act and Japan’s JC-STAR.
It's common for IoT devices to run Linux as their operating system. However, adopting general-purpose Linux distributions like Ubuntu or Debian, or Yocto-based Linux, presents certain difficulties. This article outlines those difficulties.
It also, it highlights the security benefits of using a Linux-based container OS and explains how to adopt it with JC-STAR, using the "Armadillo Base OS" as an example.
