The bony pelvis connects the sacrum region of the spine to the femurs. It is subdivided into the pelvic girdle (hip bones) and the pelvic region of the spine (sacrum and coccyx). The pelvic cavity is further divided into the greater pelvis above the pelvic brim, the lesser pelvis below the brim, and the pelvic floor below the cavity. The pelvic cavity contains reproductive organs and the rectum, and has an inlet leading into the lesser pelvis bordered by bones, and an outlet between the pubic arch, ischial tuberosities and coccyx.
