Whats in the box under my bed?
Hello everyone, as you know my name is Angus Smith. Today I have
chosen five objects that symbolise me and put them in a box. The box
includes: plans for the new house that my family and I are building, a
beanie that is my brothers, a musician statue to represent my musical
life, headgear for my love of rugby and a picture of me.Because nothing
or anyone can describe my life or personality more than me.

Now, I will talk about three of the five items.

Firstly, our house plans. I chose this object mainly because it symbolises
how hard working my family is we are not all softies. I also chose this as a
reminder never to build another house again. Two reasons for this; One,
it sucks the life and money out of you. Two, I simply have lost all my
weekends for last four years and who knows how many more weekends I
have left until the house is done? This house is being built entirely by my
family. Up until now it has taken us fouryears, building this monstrosity of
a house, which we will one day call home. Its forty-eight metres long,
hasforty-seven windows, five bedrooms, two bathrooms, two dining
rooms, two lounge rooms, one kitchen, one mudroom, one laundry, one
carport, one garage and asunroom. It also has underfloor heating and
heated towel racks. Dad wont let us get a heated toilet seat though. My
mum was the luckiest person in our family to do with this house. She got
an eight-metre kitchen bench; other houses have a bench around three
metres long. So as you can see my Step-dad and Mum wanted to be a bit
special when they made these plans. I guess these plans symbolise not
only me but my family as well. It shows that my family are all thinkers, are
not afraid of the future and work hard at whatever the task. Also, we will
never give up a task once started, even if it does take us more than four
                                 long years.
Secondly, this small beanie.I will explain why I chose it. Like I said it was
my brothers. It was Toms. Tom is my older brother that would now be in
year nine. He died as a 10-month-old baby. He had a disease called cystic-
hygroma; its medical name is lymphangiomo. This disease makes a
massive cyst in the body. Tom had two main cysts, one in his chest, and
the other in his neck. What killed him was after the operation that
removed the cysts he had a massive blood clot that blocked both arteries
to his heart. The operation took around 13 hours. He survived the
procedure but the clot killed him. Doctors tried for almost 2 hours to
resuscitate him. Liam (my little brother) and I never got to meet him. My
mum said he had red hair like my big brother Will; massive eyes like Liam
and looked like me. I chose the beanie because it is one of the very
special objects in my families life. Tom got this beanie when he was first
born. It is special to us because it was one of the things that Tom got in
hospital, and we have treasured it ever since. It is treasured and kept safe
by my mum. My mum would probably symbolise me more than anyone in
or out of my family. Its easy to tell that she does, just take a look at her,
and then look at me. She was also confident and a little bold, which is
                              apparently like me.

Finally I am going to talk about is the headgear. From first impressions
people wouldnt think of me as sporty or anything like that, its just my
mum is a good cook. But I do love rugby. I don't know why, but I have
always loved the game, the concept, the teamwork, and the
sportsmanship. It symbolises me because it is something I have played for
over 6 years, and hope to continue to play in the future. It also symbolises
me because I love to play nearly any sport, from going out there to play a
big game of rugby, to fun game of backyard cricket.

I hope you enjoyed the insight into my life. Does anyone have any
                               questions?

                           Thank you for listening.
