The document describes John Sousa's progression photos series featuring angels. It includes photos of angels with titles like "Gabriel, Angel of Dreams" and "St. Michael Slays Satan". The document also provides a brief overview of John Sousa's branding process for adding text to the drawings, which involves scanning the image, printing a guide, using transfer paper to outline letters, selecting and heating custom metal branding irons, and pressing them onto the drawing.
95. I scan the image of the drawing into my computer and place the text digitally.
Then I print it out and use it as my guide for placing
letter templates on the actual work.
96. I use transfer paper to trace the outline of each letter (in red below)
as a guide for the branding iron.
97. I select the metal letters (branding irons) I¨m going to use. I designed this font myself.
And heat them by placing them directly on an oven burner.
99. I attach a magnetic dowel rod to the hot irons allowing me
to control where I¨m placing them on the drawing. I press down on
the drawing using the transferred letters as my guide.
