How to manufacture the brick? and
where it is used?
Brick is a mixture of clay and water.
The bricks are arranged by moulding clay in
rectangular block of uniform size and then by drying
and burning these blocks.
Bricks are used in construction of buildings,walls,and
e.t.c.
Why it is used?
The common bricks are one of the oldest building
material and it is extensively used at present leading
material of construction.
Because of its durability, strength, reliability, low cast,
and easy availability.
The bricksaretwo types
1) sun dried bricks
2) burning bricks

Composition of good brick earth
 1) Alumina
 2) Silica
 3) Lime
 4) Oxide of iron
 5) Magnesia
Harmful ingredients inbrickearth
 1)Lime
 2)Iron pyrites
 3) Alkalis
 4) Pebbles
 5) Vegetation and Organicmattra
Making the bricks
are five steps:1) WINNING or MINING
2) PREPARATION OF CLAY
3)MOULDING
4)DRYING
5)BURNING
1) Winning (or) mining the clay

Select the good
clay area.
Remove the
clay up to
200mm depth.
2) Preparation of the clay by pug
mill:
preparation of clay by pug mill:
A pug mill consists
of a conical iron tub
with cover at its top.
The bottom of tub is
covered except for the
hole to take out
pugged earth.
The diameter of the
pug mill at bottom is
about 800mm and that
top is about 1 meter.
MACHAINE MOULDING
Moulding box:
In hand moulding
,bricks are moulded by
hand.
A typical wooden mould is
shown in fig should be
prepared from well seasoned
wood.
After moulding put the bricks on
the barrow(up to 26 bricks)
4) Drying:
Brickmaking
5) Burning:
Starting
temperature is 650
degrees
After some time
1100 deg
