2. HELPING OUR COMMUNITY
We decided the best way to help our community was to bring
awareness to homelessness and providing them with a basic
necessity that we all need especially during winter which is socks.
The sock drive would also lend itself to helping our preschool with
sock puppets for their reading center.
We also included words of inspiration bookmarks with each pair
of socks.

During our WIDE Read at the end of the school day. The students
were able to listen to a Read-A-Loud entitled Ducks in Socks.
After viewing, teachers were given guided questions to help start a
conversation with students about why it is necessary to keep our
body warm during the winter.
Teachers were also able to discuss the conditions homeless people
face while exposed to the elements of outside weather.
