RESEARCH 1 RESEARCH 2 The Global Politics Library is the working library of the Torino World Affairs Institute. The bulk of its collection is dedicated to the history, politics, economics and society of modern China and India, security in the Indo- Paci?c region, and relations between China and the Euro- Mediterranean region. The Library¡¯s policy of acquisitions focuses on scienti?c journals and academic monographs to complement the rich collections available in the multiple libraries of the city of Torino, and especially those of its University. Currently, the Library subscribes to the following journals: The China Journal, China Perspectives, The China Quarterly, the Journal of Chinese Political Science, Mondo Cinese, Paci?c Affairs, Twentieth Century China. When searched, it offers not only books titles, but also titles, authors and abstracts of individual chapters in edited volumes, and individual essays published in the journals the Library subscribes to. RESEARCH 3 RESEARCH 4 The China Policy Lab is the monthly research seminar convened by the Center for Italian Studies of Zhejiang University at its HQ in the historical Yuquan Campus near the West Lake. Seminars are held in English by Chinese and international scholars for an audience of committed graduate students, PhD candidates and young researchers. Since November 2013, the series has hosted speakers from a wide spectrum of scienti?c sectors, including Daniele Brigadoi Cologna (University of Insubria), Michele Geraci (Nottingham University Business School, Ningbo), Gu Jianxin (Department of Foreign Affairs, Zhejiang Province), Gregory J. RESEARCH 5 ADVANCED TRAINING TARGET NUMBER OF QUESTIONNAIRES IN FIRST EVER SURVEY OF ¡°PROSPECTS FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN ITALY-CHINA RELATIONS¡± 1,000 The TOChina System pursues innovative research agendas on Italy-China relations through a set of partnerships with China¡¯s most in?uential research centers on Italian studies, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Peking University. The research partnership between the Torino World Affairs Institute and the Center for Italian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was launched in 2014 on the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and Italy. In April 2015 the Torino World Affairs Institute was the ?rst think tank signing a partnership with the newly-founded Center for Mediterranean Area Studies at Peking University, inspired by TOChina¡¯s Dr. Enrico Fardella. A pilot research project on perceptions of Italy among Chinese students of Italian studies is currently under way. 3 ADVANCED TRAINING 4 ADVANCED TRAINING Since its ?rst edition in 2007, the TOChina Summer School has gathered hundreds of outstanding students, young scholars and engaged professionals from around the world to re?ect on the complexity of China¡¯s return to global prominence. One of Europe¡¯s premier short-term courses on China¡¯s politics, foreign policy and economy, the TOChina Summer School offers 60 hours of lectures, Q&A sessions, and round-tables with leading scholars from China and around the world. Enriched by a partnership with the Australian National University, Naples Easter University, Roma Tre University and MSOI, the School welcomes up to 45 young researchers, graduate students, practitioners and outstanding undergraduates who pass a ?erce selection process. The China Institutes for Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) is the PRC¡¯s foremost think-tank for strategic foresight, with unique competences in European affairs and West Asia & Northern Africa. The China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) is the in-house think-tank of the International Department of the Communist Party of China. It has just started its outreach activities. Dialogues are prepared and run by scholars, but are designed to include senior of?cials and managers from the corporate sector on both sides, so as to offer an informal opportunity to tackle a wider range of issues than may be possible in institutional contexts. In the delicate context of China¡¯s capital city, where sensitive themes need to be engaged with intellectual dexterity, ThinkINChina operates as an informal platform where Chinese and foreign academics can engage in frank discussions with a truly global audience. The logo of ThinkINChina is an arti?cial Chinese character combining the elements ¡°gate¡± (éT), ¡°to discuss¡± (Õ“) and ¡°country¡± (‡ø). NETWORKING 3 NETWORKING 4 MEMBERS OF THE TOCHINA ALUMNI BY 2015 100 The TOChina Alumni network was established in October 2013 as a community of graduates from the most prestigious TOChina programs, including the Double Degree in Global and China Studies and the TOChina Business Program. A vibrant group of recent graduates and young professionals, the Alumni network stretches from Europe to China, and is coordinated by Ms. Greta Scadellato, now a young entrepreneur based in Hangzhou. Institutionally, the Alumni network promotes alumni visibility in high-value segments of the job market, both in China and Europe. Informally, if functions as a channel for exchanging valuable information and early warning among its members, constantly on the look-out for opportunities around the globe. Alumni events take place at least once a year, both in Europe (the greater Milan area), and China (in the greater Shanghai area). WEEKLY MEETINGS EVERY ACADEMIC YEAR 20+ The TOChina Conversation Club (¶¼Á麺Óï¾ãÀÖ²¿) is a group founded by Prof. Zhao Meirong (Chinese language for Economics and International Relations, University of Torino) to connect Italian and foreign students learning Chinese and Chinese students living in Torino. Every academic year it organizes meetings to create language partnerships between students. The last one was held on October 2nd, 2014 at the Campus Luigi Einaudi of the University of Torino. Convened every week, usually at 6pm on Sundays at Caffe Rossini (Corso Regina Margherita 80, Torino), it features a Language Corner open to anyone who wants to practice their Chinese and/or teach some Italian. Notes Ways forward: TOChina & the Mediterranean The TOChina Business Program 2015 call for participants is online as of March 9, 2015. Applications from outstanding graduate students and practitioners from Southern Europe, West Asia and Northern Africa are especially welcome and will be given priority. On May 7-9 2015, the European University Institute in Fiesole and the Torino World Affairs Institute jointly hosted a scenario-building executive training on ¡°Mapping China¡¯s Futures¡±. Applications for the next edition will open in February 2016. Applications for the TOChina Summer School 2015 opened in March 2015. This edition of the School will focus on China¡¯s ¡°One belt, one road¡± initiative and its impact in Central Asia and the wider Mediterranean region. Applications from Euro- Mediterranean countries will be given priority. TOChina seeks partnerships with local institutions to enrich the TOChina faculty with regional experts on the critical dynamics impacting on relations between China and the region. In the long run, the TOChina system can only ful?l its broader potential by opening its research and training programs to a community that goes beyond Italian and Chinese students, practitioners and institutions. Through partnerships with relevant academic institutions, think-tanks, and donors from Southern Europe, TOChina¡¯s capacity-building expertise can be put to the service of the development agendas of countries and companies in the wider Euro-Mediterranean region, allowing for an effective and responsible engagement with today¡¯s (and tomorrow¡¯s) China.

The bulk of its collection is dedicated to the history, politics, economics and society of modern China and India, security in the Indo- Paci?c region, and relations between China and the Euro- Mediterranean region. The Library¡¯s policy of acquisitions focuses on scienti?c journals and academic monographs to complement the rich collections available in the multiple libraries of the city of Torino, and especially those of its University. RESEARCH 3 RESEARCH 4 The China Policy Lab is the monthly research seminar convened by the Center for Italian Studies of Zhejiang University at its HQ in the historical Yuquan Campus near the West Lake. Seminars are held in English by Chinese and international scholars for an audience of committed graduate students, PhD candidates and young researchers. RESEARCH 5 ADVANCED TRAINING TARGET NUMBER OF QUESTIONNAIRES IN FIRST EVER SURVEY OF ¡°PROSPECTS FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN ITALY-CHINA RELATIONS¡± 1,000 The TOChina System pursues innovative research agendas on Italy-China relations through a set of partnerships with China¡¯s most in?uential research centers on Italian studies, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Peking University. The research partnership between the Torino World Affairs Institute and the Center for Italian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was launched in 2014 on the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and Italy. In April 2015 the Torino World Affairs Institute was the ?rst think tank signing a partnership with the newly-founded Center for Mediterranean Area Studies at Peking University, inspired by TOChina¡¯s Dr. Enrico Fardella. A pilot research project on perceptions of Italy among Chinese students of Italian studies is currently under way. NETWORKING 3 NETWORKING 4 MEMBERS OF THE TOCHINA ALUMNI BY 2015 100 The TOChina Alumni network was established in October 2013 as a community of graduates from the most prestigious TOChina programs, including the Double Degree in Global and China Studies and the TOChina Business Program. A vibrant group of recent graduates and young professionals, the Alumni network stretches from Europe to China, and is coordinated by Ms. Greta Scadellato, now a young entrepreneur based in Hangzhou. Institutionally, the Alumni network promotes alumni visibility in high-value segments of the job market, both in China and Europe. Informally, if functions as a channel for exchanging valuable information and early warning among its members, constantly on the look-out for opportunities around the globe. Alumni events take place at least once a year, both in Europe (the greater Milan area), and China (in the greater Shanghai area). WEEKLY MEETINGS EVERY ACADEMIC YEAR 20+ The TOChina Conversation Club (¶¼Á麺Óï¾ãÀÖ²¿) is a group founded by Prof. Zhao Meirong (Chinese language for Economics and International Relations, University of Torino) to connect Italian and foreign students learning Chinese and Chinese students living in Torino. Every academic year it organizes meetings to create language partnerships between students. The last one was held on October 2nd, 2014 at the Campus Luigi Einaudi of the University of Torino. Convened every week, usually at 6pm on Sundays at Caffe Rossini (Corso Regina Margherita 80, Torino), it features a Language Corner open to anyone who wants to practice their Chinese and/or teach some Italian.   • 15. Notes Ways forward: TOChina & the Mediterranean The TOChina Business Program 2015 call for participants is online as of March 9, 2015. Applications from outstanding graduate students and practitioners from Southern Europe, West Asia and Northern Africa are especially welcome and will be given priority. On May 7-9 2015, the European University Institute in Fiesole and the Torino World Affairs Institute jointly hosted a scenario-building executive training on ¡°Mapping China¡¯s Futures¡±. Applications for the next edition will open in February 2016. Applications for the TOChina Summer School 2015 opened in March 2015. This edition of the School will focus on China¡¯s ¡°One belt, one road¡± initiative and its impact in Central Asia and the wider Mediterranean region. Applications from Euro- Mediterranean countries will be given priority. TOChina seeks partnerships with local institutions to enrich the TOChina faculty with regional experts on the critical dynamics impacting on relations between China and the region. In the long run, the TOChina system can only ful?l its broader potential by opening its research and training programs to a community that goes beyond Italian and Chinese students, practitioners and institutions. Through partnerships with relevant academic institutions, think-tanks, and donors from Southern Europe, TOChina¡¯s capacity-building expertise can be put to the service of the development agendas of countries and companies in the wider Euro-Mediterranean region, allowing for an effective and responsible engagement with today¡¯s (and tomorrow¡¯s) China.
