Company background 
Bristol-based BrunelPrint is one of the UK¡¯s market leaders in advanced print 
technology & finishing capabilities, working with businesses primarily in the creative, 
fashion & luxury sectors. 
Tracing its roots back to 1844 when Elisha Smith Robinson founded the Bristol 
Printing & Packaging company and powered his machines by steam, the business 
quickly evolved and began making a name for itself printing branded paper bags for 
grocery businesses. 
Building on this success in the 1870¡¯s the firms¡¯ operations expanded into 
personalised business calendars & stationery. By 1919, the business had opened a 
large plant in Bedminster, from where BrunelPrint still trades today. Committed to 
innovation & growth like its founders, the business recently invested in excess of 
?1.5 million in cutting-edge printing equipment. 
This investment makes BrunelPrint one of the only places in the UK where clients 
can access advanced print techniques & finishes such as complex laser cutting, 
raised sensory ink & embossing. 
At the centre of the business is a belief that print still has a very important role to play 
in an increasingly digital world - primarily in its ability to connect with people on a 
much deeper, emotional level. 
With an aim to help its clients understand & exploit the opportunity advancements in 
print can bring their marketing campaigns, BrunelPrint is headed up by a team of 
experienced directors who themselves have held senior marketing & creative roles.
Products & Services 
Printing techniques: 
Litho print ¨C at the core of BrunelPrint¡¯s business since 1844, litho print provides top 
quality print for higher volumes and ticks all the boxes in versatility & quality, from 
brochures to catalogues. Consistent first-to-last page quality whether using standard 
gloss paper or specialist uncoated stock. 
Green printing methods are adhered to using the latest machinery including the CO2 
neutral Speedmaster XL75. The Speedmaster is a benchmark for productivity & 
energy efficiency & the most eco-friendly machine in its class. 
Digital print ¨C ability to print each individual piece personalised ¨C allowing for 
variable data campaigns to be printed on demand. Pantone ink matching & a huge 
range of speciality papers & finishes can also be used. Using the HP Indigo 7500 six 
colour for example, white ink allows customers to create unique designs on coloured 
stocks and other innovative materials such as Mirriboard, clear self-adhesives and 
magnetic paper. 
Large format printing ¨C custom images and signage for trade shows, conferences, 
presentation & other events in wide range of large formats tailored to customer 
requirements. 
Enhancement & advanced finishing: 
Cutting, perforating & engraving ¨C advanced finishing capabilities using the 
Motioncutter, one of only two machines currently in the UK, and winner of the 
European Digital Press ¡®Best commercial printing finishing system¡¯ 2014. For 
example, the Motioncutter can produce a business card with hundreds of tiny 
pinholes, engrave board and paper with intricate designs and cut & score bespoke 
boxes from just one upwards. 
Sensory enhancement ¨C BrunelPrint¡¯s state of the art Scodix machine, one of only 
ten in the UK, allows clients to create the feel of luxury from the grain of leather on a 
handbag to water droplets on a bottle on their printed materials. Sensory, tactile 
finishing techniques available up to B2 size across a wide range of marketing 
materials with ability to create bespoke differences on each piece. 
One-to-one marketing: 
Bespoke campaigns ¨C sophisticated Variable Data Printing (VDP) technology which 
can process clients data and produce personalised marketing materials to engage 
audiences. Text, images and graphics can all be personalised for one-to-one 
marketing campaigns & materials used to drive people to other channels like social 
media sites.
Andy Mackinson ¨C commercial print manager 
Andy Mackinson is commercial print manager at BrunelPrint, a Bristol-based print 
specialist in high end, advanced finish technologies for the creative, luxury and 
fashion sectors. 
Having worked as a creative director, designer, studio manager and in wider senior 
marketing roles Andy is adept at working with clients from initial brief through the 
entire creative process, ensuring that the end product is printed to the highest quality 
& design standards. 
Beginning his career in a busy design studio, Andy experienced his first taste of 
working with major brands, such as Johnson & Johnson. Following this, he worked 
as a freelance designer for 20th Century Fox & Sony Pictures, before joining 
Granada in 2002 as group creative director. Here Andy honed his skills in the world 
of contract magazine publishing, with responsibility for publications for household 
names including Virgin. 
Keen to pursue his interest in fashion & luxury brands, Andy left Granada to provide 
design & marketing services to the likes of Dolce & Gabanna, Louis Vuitton and Paul 
Smith before returning to an in-house role with a global luxury property business. As 
brand manager at DPI Worldwide Property, Andy was responsible for developing a 
global brand for the business and oversaw all marketing activity including media 
planning, advertising, online & SEO/PPC campaigns. 
After three years at DPI, Andy accepted the marketing & brand manager position at 
Intek Communications (now GoMobile), one of the largest independent high street & 
online mobile phone retailers. Here Andy was responsible for the sales and 
marketing strategy across 56 stores UK-wide, working closely with networks such as 
T-Mobile & Orange on joint promotional activity. 
During the past five years, Andy has turned his attentions to the design of printed 
materials, joining national commercial print business Service Point UK in 2010 as 
West Country manager. In this role, he developed the businesses existing range of 
services to include large format & exhibition print & oversaw customer service & 
quality of all printed materials produced. Clients included Harrods & the BBC. 
In 2014, Andy joined BrunelPrint as commercial print manager, seizing the perfect 
opportunity to combine his expertise of working with high-end luxury & creative 
brands and his understanding of the print industry. 
At BrunelPrint, Andy is passionate about sharing the innovation that new print 
technologies can bring to marketing campaigns with existing & potential clients. 
Drawing on his experience as both a designer & former creative director, Andy 
believes that print is a true craft beyond just the technology that produces it. And that 
achieving the subtleties of finish & creative finesse still calls for skill of hand & eye, 
and genuine care in the process. 
When he¡¯s not at the office or walking his dog, Andy enjoys regular visits to see 
friends in Spain, where he lived for five years. His proudest career moment was
persuading Madonna to appear on the front cover of the launch issue of a client¡¯s 
magazine, following a chance meeting with her at a country house hotel!
