Through a combination of self-assessments and “test your knowledge”
exercises, students will develop a greater interest and enthusiasm for
the field of management.
Seven diverse self-assessments help students identify what they want in an employer and
work environment, as well as measure their skills and preferences in such areas as
organizational communication, leadership, teamwork and conflict management.
By making a personal connection to the world of management, students appreciate the value
of management skills and knowledge in furthering their careers.
After completing a self-assessment, students receive a detailed feedback report that can be
printed as a helpful reference. They also learn the implications of each choice, such as the
extent to which a response indicates effective listening skills.
Students learn, reinforce and test their understanding of key concepts related
to motivation and leadership by completing two exercises for each topic.
If students want to improve their understanding of a management topic, they
would choose practice mode. On the other hand, if they want to confirm their
knowledge, students may answer all the questions in advance and then
receive feedback on their performance.
If students perform poorly in test mode, Build Your Management Skills will first
recommend practice mode to improve their understanding—instead of
immediately displaying the answers.
By applying management models and concepts to realistic scenarios, students
appreciate the practical value of what they learn. Applying their knowledge also
provides students with a more challenging test of how well they understand the
subject.
Build Your Management Skills explains why a response is incorrect and then
contrasts it with the correct choice. If students answer correctly, they still
receive a detailed explanation about why the choice is correct to confirm and
reinforce their understanding.
In “Test Mode,” students receive a comprehensive feedback report on their
performance, including a comparison of each response with the correct
answer. They can then print the report for their own reference.
