Departmental Overview
The Berkeley Resource Center for Online Education (BRCOE) is a thriving entrepreneurial unit
that drives all online education initiatives at UC Berkeley. The group serves a broad array of
purposes ranging from strategy consultation to course design. In its capacity as a marketing
service provider for online degree programs, BRCOE is seeking an experienced marketing
systems analyst. This is an essential role in evolving BRCOE from a small startup to a full-service
marketing firm with a unique business model. The analysts primary focus is planning
and overseeing the implementation of a new CRM and marketing automation solution. The
goal with both systems is to improve the scale and efficiency of BRCOEs marketing &
recruiting operations, particularly in relation to segmented audience outreach conducted by
a team of highly motivated enrollment counselors and marketers. The ideal candidate will
expertly link business goals, marketing objectives, user requirements and system design with
highly sophisticated stakeholder management. The role will also own vendor selection and
management.
As this is a new position in an emerging space, the ideal candidate will thrive in an
autonomous environment with wide latitude for developing and driving solutions. This
includes conceptualizing and translating the recruiting workflow into new systems including
Salesforce and marketing automation.
2. Responsibilities
- Applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define
complex systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an
understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Uses findings to
create and execute integrative roadmap linking together multiple systems including
Salesforce and marketing automation.
- Provides technical and process expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex
systems and procedures with particular emphasis on student lifecycle management
- Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting
requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary.
- Creates complex specifications for recruiting and marketing systems to meet user
requirements with goal of increasing efficiency and effectiveness for outreach team
- Validates requirements against needs.
- Applies business systems concepts to design details of complex automated systems.
- Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing as well user support and
training on new applications..
Required Qualifications
-Expertise with business analysis function including the ability to translate business
objectives into technical requirements while keeping usability top of mind.
-Expertise with scaling up marketing systems for organizations growing rapidly including
future-proofing solutions
-Familiarity with building systems that map to marketing, sales or enrollment concepts
-Knowledge of customer or student lifecycle
-Expertise with Salesforce and marketing automation tools
-Superlative integrative thinking and ability to create roadmaps that link together systems in
design and execution
-Ability to manage multiple vendors
3. -Proficient with project management
-Knowledge relating to the design of applications program .
-Knowledge of department processes and procedures.
-Requires skills associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and
architecture.
-Requires interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and
non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
-Background check required.
