BRINGING NEW
TECHNOLOGIES
TO BRAZIL
B&W Energys portfolio in the world market of Pre-Engineering
and Pre-Commissioning cleaning has taken root. With many of
the top EPC contractors gaining a special trust in our developed
relationships, We continue to move into the world market simply
by following our partners globally and providing the support they
have grown to appreciate anywhere in the world.
BRAZIL, A NEW FRONTIER
Our ability to track the power and petrochemical market
and capture its potential has led us to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Our
relationship in this region has taken hold almost immediately.
Brazils rapid petrochemical growth offers exciting opportunities
for B&W Energy Services to share our new technologies.
Developing new partnerships in this region is mostly due to word
of mouth from already developed relationships. The same people
who have shared past projects success by partnering with B&W
Energy Services move onto other locations which is one of the
many reasons we are in Brazil right now.
We have already established
successful projects in the region
early on. The Petrobras owned
UTE Sepe Tiaraju Project in
Canoas Brazil is a one-over-one
HRSG Power Project. Our initial
contact request from our Client
was to perform exhaustive type
steam blows for an expected
duration of 30 days. These
HRSG projects typically consist
of gas turbines to produce
exhaust heat which is captured
and used to create steam to
run another steam turbine. Gas
turbines are not well suited for
exhaustive type steam blows as
this would require many starts
and stops of the gas turbine
which can have a major impact
on the turbines life span. B&W
Energy Services continuous
low pressure high velocity
type steam blow has been the
cleaning method of choice on
HRSG power projects all over
the world. Our relationship with
Skanska (EPC Contractor) was
forged when we designed the
continuous steam blow process
for this unique project. The
projected steam blow window
for completion went from 30
days down to 7 days. When you
can design and implement such
project savings, it is very easy to
form long lasting relationships.
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
AQUALAZING, THE NEW
TECHNOLOGY
The TECAB (Terminal Cabiunas)
Project in Macae Brazil is a natural
gas processing terminal for the
offshore pre-salt oil and gas fields
explored by Petrobras. The end
goal for the project is to increase
the gas processing capacity by 5
million cubic meters/day with the
addition of 7 new units. The cleaning
scope requested was for chemical
cleaning the suction piping for 6
large new compressors and our high
velocity lube oil flushing process for
the compressors lube oil systems.
The suction piping on these critical
rotating machines require a very
high level of cleanliness, traditionally
accomplished by chemical cleaning.
With our previous success on many
petrochemical projects, B&W Energy
Services was able to introduce a
very innovative proven process
option for cleaning the suction
piping in lieu of chemical cleaning.
Aqualazing is a new technology
that is gaining prominence as a
viable time saving option replacing
chemical cleaning in many situations.
The ultrahigh pressure (water)
internal piping cleaning process
is a calculated controlled method,
removing mill scale and construction
debris with much less effort and
time than setting up a chemical
cleaning process, not to mention
the elimination of chemical waste
disposal issues. The results are
amazing. The compressor cleaning
scope at TECAB was a major success
as a result of B&Ws professionally
engineered Aqualazing process
which produced no chemical waste,
required minimal setup time, and was
followed with a corrosion inhibitor for
system preservation. Many precious
schedule days were saved utilizing
this innovative approach
ALL HIGH VELOCITY LUBE OIL FLUSHING
SERVICE PROVIDERS ARE NOT THE SAME
The same TECAB project required lube oil flushing on
their new compressors. With the engineering skills and
knowledge of B&W Energy Services, a parallel flushing
method was designed which allowed us to flush two
(2) units at the same time. Again, the priority is to cut
project schedule time. In fact, the first two units were
cleaned in just less than 24 hours! Our lube oil flushing
skids are engineered, designed and built by B&W Energy
Services in house utilizing all stainless steel components.
We have taken lube oil flushing to the next level with our
superior quality and well maintained equipment. This
assuredly produces quick verifiable clean results in much
less time due to our investment in keeping it clean
supplied equipment.
BRAZIL, NURTURING NEW RELATIONSHIPS
With the many projects in Brazils future it is easy to
understand why B&W Energy Services has invested
in this economical fast growing country. Our contacts
with Petrobras, Skanska Latin America and others are
starting to bear fruit. We are bringing new technologies
and a wealth of experience to the region creating a
foothold in the pre-commissioning industry that will
be a benefit to Brazil and its people. Our presence
will be a tremendous value to those large complex
projects that are coming into Brazils future. If you want
to be successful with your next project, why not let
us help you get there. Teaming up with a proven pre-
engineering/pre-commissioning cleaning company such
