To calculate your overall GPA, major GPA, or science GPA, tally the number of credit hours earned for each letter grade and multiply it by the grade point value. Add the total grade points and divide by the total credit hours to determine your GPA rounded to two decimal places. Barnard GPA only includes courses taken as a registered Barnard student and not study leave or summer school.

Calculation of GPA
If you wish to calculate your overall GPA, include all courses. For your Barnard GPA (this is the
cumulative GPA that is now printed on Barnard transcripts), include only courses taken during the
academic year while you were a registered Barnard student, but not study leave or summer school
work. For your major GPA, include only courses that constituted your major. For your science GPA,
include courses in the sciences.
Total the number of points you have for each grade (e.g., 12 points of A-) and enter the totals in the
gray boxes below. (You can tab from one box to the next.) GPA will be calculated to two decimal
places.
