- 7. Problems covered by the CA Lemon Law The lemon law covers vehicles with malfunctions that: Are covered by the manufacturers written new vehicle warranty Substantially impair the value, use, or safety of the vehicle to the consumer
- 8. The California lemon law does not cover vehicle problems that have arisen due to owner negligence and abuse. Problems NOT covered by the CA Lemon Law

Reasonable number of repair attempts The same problem resulted in a condition that could lead to a fatality and if the vehicle has been subject to repairs at least twice by the manufacturer and the owner has at least once directly notified the manufacturer about the need for repair. If, within 18 months from delivery or 18,000 miles on the vehicle odometer:
