1. Go to canva.com.
2. You can easily create
a new account by clicking
on Sign Up.
3. Or you can log in with
your Google or Facebook
account, or by inserting the
Email and Password that
you used to sign up.
3. User Interface:

The sidebar menu allows
you to access new
templates, your designs,
select fonts, colours and
upload logos to your Brand
Kit (Pro version), create a
team, access folders with
your designs and restore
deleted designs from trash.
4. User Interface:
top menu
The top menu gives you
access to Templates, lets
you discover free photos,
backgrounds, icons,
features, etc.
5. Search
There are two ways to
search: you can go through
category folders or use
keyword search.
6. Help
If you feel lost and dont
know where to start you can
click on the Help button and
type keywords related to
your problem.
7. Create a new
design
1. You can click on the
Create a design button. It will
show you a selection of
different assets organized by
category, format, dimensions.
2. You can select the
Recommended for you tab
and browse through
numerous categories of
ready-to-use templates for
digital and print.
3. You can click on
Templates (top menu) and
choose from available
options in the dropdown
menu.
8. Instagram Post
For example, lets choose
an Instagram Post
(1080x1080px).
If you dont want to start
from scratch, choose one of
the dozens of available
layouts by searching
through the Templates.
All these layouts are fully
customizable. It means that
you can change the text,
colours, icons, photos and
backgrounds easily.
9. Photos
If you click on the Photos
tab you will be able to
search for
a photo based on topic or
keywords.
Some photos are free,
some are only available
with a Pro Account.
If you want to use a photo:
1. Just click on it and it will
appear automatically on
your page.
2. Or drag and drop it to
your page.
3. Scale it up and down and
adjust the placement as
needed.
10. Photos
Explore the available
functionality: Effects, Filter,
Adjust, Crop, Flip, etc.
These effects can be very
useful if you want to create
a unique look and feel for
your posts.
When using photos as
backgrounds, make sure
that the text is readable and
has sufficient contrast. You
can modify photos with the
help of the Effects, Filter
and Adjust to create better
contrast to your text.
11. Elements:
illustrations
You can use free amazing
illustrations created by
Canva designers. They are
organized by topic (for
example, Coronavirus).
The same logic applies
here: search by typing a
keyword or scroll though
available folders. Click or
drag and drop the image
you like.
In the top bar you can
change the colours used in
the illustration, crop or flip it.
12. Elements:
shapes
Shapes are the building
blocks of design. They are
particularly versatile as they
can be used to highlight,
underline, and create
borders around text or used
as backgrounds.
After selecting the shape
you can change its colour
(in the top bar), size or even
dimensions (for example,
make a rectangle from a
square).
13. Elements: grids
Grids are very useful if you
want to use several photos
but not sure how to
organize them.
You can choose from plenty
of available photo collage
layouts consisting of
various numbers of images.
After, just drag and drop an
image in the placeholder
area.
You can also adjust the
spacing between the
images or choose a colour
in one of the placeholders
instead.
14. Elements:
frames
Frames can be used to hold
your images in a decorative
placeholder.
After selecting the desired
frame you can change its
colour (in the top bar) and
adjust its size.
15. Elements:
charts
Charts can be very useful if
you want to create
infographics to represent
data and complex
information in a way that
can be quickly and clearly
understood.
You can choose from a
selection of various chart
types.
After you have selected a
chart type, you can change
its data, adjust its colours,
fonts and other parameters.
16. Text
Choose from Heading,
Subheading, or Body Text
boxes and adjust the text
size, colour, line and
character spacing to match
your needs.
General advice: do not use
more than two fonts. Its
hard to create a nice match
with too many fonts.
If you are not sure where to
start, choose from hundreds
of beautifully-matched text
combinations.
17. Music
Choose from a selection of
free audio tracks organized
by themes.
Please note that some of
the music is only available
in the Pro version.
18. Videos
Choose from a selection of
free videos organized by
themes.
Please note that some of
the videos are only
available in the Pro version.
After selecting the video
you can crop and trim it.
19. Background
Use Canvas Backgrounds
to provide a backdrop for
your design.
You can choose from
a selection of images,
gradients and solid colours.
You can apply various filters
and effects to your
background, adjust or
change its colours, etc.
As in the case of photos,
please be mindful of the
readability of your text on
the selected background.
20. Uploads
You can upload your
images (photos,
illustrations, icons, logos,
etc.) or videos.
After, just click on it or drag
and drop it to your page.
21. Page
arrangement
You can change the order
of your pages by clicking on
the up or down arrows.
You can also duplicate and
delete pages in your design
by clicking on the dual page
or trash can icons.
22. Download
Download your design as a
PNG, JPG, PDF standard,
PDF print, Video, GIF or
Animation.
Click on Select Pages to
download only specific
pages.
Some of the more
advanced options are only
available in a Pro version.
23. Share and
Collaborate
Provide access to your
design using email or by
sending a view-only or
editable link.
After choosing
a preferred option click on
Copy link and share your
link with others.
The Pro account also
allows you to share your
designs as template. It
prevents people from
changing the original
design.
