Ruth Samuelson launched a new website to help with her 2012 re-election campaign for the North Carolina House of Representatives. Her district boundaries changed slightly under redistricting, adding some new neighborhoods while keeping most of the existing area. She looks forward to meeting more constituents in the new parts of District 104 and invites interested groups to have her speak.

1. January 13, 2012 Legislative Update Raleigh, NC
Less than two weeks into this brand new year, I have two exciting new things that I wanted to
tell you about today: my new website and the new House district in which I will be
running.
Just last week I officially launched the new www.ruthsamuelson.com. The content got
some much-needed updating, but the biggest difference youll see is in the design. My hope
is that itll be easier for visitors to find my views on the big issues, sign up for this newsletter
and, yes, even donate to my 2012 campaign!
That campaign is expected to begin in less than six weeks, when the candidate-filing
period is set to open in North Carolina. I plan to run for my third term representing District
104 in the N.C. House, though District 104 will take on slightly different boundaries under the
redistricting plan the legislature passed last year.
Though that redistricting plan is still the subject of some legal challenges, so far we have
been given every indication that the maps will hold up under judicial scrutiny, and elections
will proceed as planned.
District 104 will still include most of SouthPark and Cotswold, but starting with the 2012
election cycle, it will pick up some areas south of N.C. 51, such as Raintree and parts of
Hembstead and Piper Glen. It also will include more neighborhoods east of Providence
Road, such as Beverly Crest, the Alexander Road area and the Sardis Road North area all
the way to Monroe Road.
Over the holidays, I spent some time driving the new parts of District 104, and I am looking
forward to getting to know more people there. I would be thrilled to receive invitations to
speak to area homeowners associations, retirement communities, Rotary clubs or any other
interested groups!
Whether or not you are in the new or old District 104, I hope you know that I am always
interested in hearing your questions and concerns about state government issues. You can
contact me by going to my (new and improved!) website www.ruthsamuelson.com and
clicking on Ask Ruth. Or email me directly at ruth@ruthsamuelson.com.
2. Best wishes for a wonderful 2012!
Ruth
