Celebrate Carnaval, have fun, but be safe!
Carnaval or Fashing is an important local tradition and this year it is celebrated February 7-9. Shops in Limburg and parts of
Germany will close while pubs and bars will stay open until at least 3 a.m. The streets will overflow with Carnaval revelers
and parades. If held up by a parade, don¡¯t try to cut through the revelry. It could cause a serious accident and it shows a lack
of respect for host nation cultural events.
Also due to recent incidents in Cologne and other cities it is best to be careful and remain vigilant when in a large crowd or
gathering.
If enroute to USAG Benelux-Schinnen and a parade is in progress, park the car and enjoy the festivities. But remember to
be safe and don¡¯t drink and drive! The parades in Schinnen are on Monday, February 8 and Tuesday, February 9 between 1
and 4 p.m. and will delay access and exit to and from the base during that time!
