#3: Stratpack is a software designed to aid the middle and upper level management in decision making and long range planning especially in Strategic planning. This software would essentially provide decision makers with necessary data, facts and figures that would help in strategic planning. The software would make assessing the business environment of different nations easy by accumulating all the required data in one place that would make top level managers to access those information from one place. Thereby making decision making process simple and less time consuming.
#4: Strategic planning is an organizations process of defining its strategy or making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue its goal and to devise a control mechanism to ensure its objective are fulfilled. In other words strategic planning is way managers match organizational resources with its market opportunities over the long run.
There are various factors in organizations business environment that has major impact on decision making and planning process. These factors can be broadly classified into two categories such as internal and external. Internal factors to some extent are controllable by the organizations and includes components such as suppliers, customers, employees, stakeholders and so on. External environment consists of factors that are not in control of organization and so they can do very little about it if the factors are to change.
Both internal and external factors comprises of qualitative and quantitative factors. The software would be of very little use in terms of qualitative factors so it can only use quantitative factors like tax rate, sale revenue, and number of employees and so on. However other qualitative factors can be shown in table while assessing the companys SWOT.
Since the software would be used in all the sub divisions of the company which are located in countries that have difference status in terms of sales trend, customer value, legal legislations, brand value and so on. All the required data will be transferred from the accounting software that the organization has been using have been using, and qualitative variables will be manually entered. Strategic planning is usually assessing its strengths and weakness so that the organization can grab the opportunity and minimize the threats from the external environment. That is usually done through SWOT analysis. The software will therefore show managers with the strengths and weakness of the organization which will help them to make plans and policies to enhance the goal achievement.
#5: In order to figure out if the software is really useful for planning or not, a descriptive research will be conducted. Descriptive research design is used when the research is developed with aim of studying the subject of research in detail and explain the facts and characteristics related to the research problem. It describes the relevant aspects of the factors of interest to the researcher from an individual, organization or other perspective. Here in this case, we want to know if the software in question really help in long term planning. So the descriptive design will help in profiling the software so that decision regarding its implementation can be taken.
The null hypothesis in this case would be: Stratpack helps middle and upper level manager in strategic planning.
The research will be conducted in following steps:
