Voedingsbedrijf Solina Group werkt met 4 overnames op 4 jaar aan een steile internationale expansie.
Om over de grenzen heen effici谷nt te kunnen samenwerken, investeerde Solina in een moderne IT-
infrastructuur die het onderbracht in een gloednieuw datacenter. Heel de groep maakt verbinding met
de centrale systemen, waardoor IT eenvoudiger en voordeliger te beheren is. Ook nieuwe vestigingen
worden heel snel ge誰ntegreerd in de groep. Samen met IT-partner Savaco zorgde Solina ook voor
gegevensreplicatie naar het vroegere datacenter, dat overneemt in geval van uitval.
Ons vorige datacenter was niet helemaal voorzien op onze grote groei. We hadden 辿辿n centraal
datacenter voor de vestigingen van de Benelux, Turkije, Roemeni谷 en Polen, niet voldoende om de
bedrijfscontinu誰teit voor 100% te kunnen garanderen, aldus Mattias Demeyere, ICT-manager bij de

Nieuwe infrastructuur en procedures zorgen voor gemoedsrust
Een eventuele uitval zou bovendien grote gevolgen hebben voor het voedingsbedrijf. Een downtime
van een dag kost al snel enkele miljoenen door de stilvallende productie. Mocht er iets fout lopen in
het nieuwe, primaire datacenter dan schakelt Solina Group meteen over naar het secundaire, back-
updatacenter zonder in te boeten aan capaciteit.
De kans op een calamiteit in het primaire datacenter is nochtans heel klein. Het datacenter is
opgetrokken uit verschillende lagen beton en uitgerust met de laatste technologie谷n op het vlak van
veiligheid en koeling. Als er toch iets zou gebeuren, kunnen we aan de slag met strikte procedures die
Savaco voor ons uitschreef. Zij zorgden voor een scenario om versneld gegevens terug te zetten na een
incident. Die documentatie is een echte meerwaarde voor onze afdeling, zegt Mattias Demeyere. Zo
garanderen we eigenlijk 100% bedrijfscontinu誰teit, wat voor een grote gemoedsrust zorgt binnen de
hele organisatie.
Effici谷nte samenwerking tussen Europese vestigingen
De nieuwe IT-infrastructuur laat ook toe om veel eenvoudiger nieuwe gebruikers te laten werken op
de centrale systemen. Onder meer de ERP-software, het kloppende hart van de groep, draait in het
nieuwe datacenter.

Op technisch vlak is het geen sinecure om nieuwe, vaak buitenlandse afdelingen te integreren in de
groep. Door te standaardiseren willen we dat zoveel mogelijk vereenvoudigen. Enkele jaren geleden
hebben we op dat vlak al een eerste stap gezet met een Citrix-omgeving, die Savaco voor ons
installeerde. De 600 kantoorwerkers uit Solinas verschillende landen werken met dezelfde applicaties
en kunnen bijvoorbeeld snel en effici谷nt documenten delen of van thuis uit werken.
Kwartier downtime voor het hele project
Een van de projecteisen van Solina Group was dat de business geen hinder zou ondervinden tijdens de
implementatie van de nieuwe IT-omgeving. Door alles vooraf goed in te plannen, was er slechts een
kwartier downtime. Wij hebben het veranderingsproces stapsgewijs aangepakt en we zijn erin
geslaagd om alles tot een succesvol einde te brengen, zegt Mattias Demeyere. Onze slogan is niet

Er staan nog verschillende projecten op til bij Solina Group. Zo zijn er enkele overnames gepland en
willen we graag enkele applicaties naar de cloud verhuizen. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat de cloud
standaard wordt, dus daar moeten we naartoe. Op het vlak van licenties, bijvoorbeeld, biedt het vele
