Museums are nowadays among the most popular projects for the public, the concept of thermal comfort in museums is often treated after the realization. Even if in the design, the architect shows a particular intention to work with daylight which is considered for these projects as main, the architect often considers certain elements that have an influence on the energy balance of these projects such as: orientation, building materials. The museum route is the key to the success of any museum project, it is the space of the visitor, the space in which he is invaded by sensations. In this study, we will first evaluate the thermal comfort in the museum as a whole (building) and then through its route. The objective is to guide reflection in the design of the museum towards the route in order to reduce energy consumption. In order to carry out our study, some European museums were analysed by means of simulation, according to the thermal comfort of their designs for the most unfavourable conditions, then by a thermal analysis of the museum route according to the segmentation principle using the average radiant temperature. This method allowed us to bring out correspondences between the architectural form and the route. Finally, the segmentation method constitutes the basis of a new methodological approach called "thermal topology" based on the discontinuities of the temperatures in the route.

The Lecco Campus of the Politecnico di Milano welcomes this year the first Summer School of the Laboratorio Nervi. Inspired by the work of the great Italian designer and builder Pier Luigi Nervi (Sondrio, June 21st 1891 - Rome, January 9th 1979), the Laboratorio Nervi is being developed as a centre for study and analysis on the great issues of knowledge and conservation as well as restoration and valorisation of the twentieth century architecture. As for 2018, the Laboratorio Nervi Summer School will explore all these themes focusing on the critical, structural and technological aspects, within the framework of the European

Museums are nowadays among the most popular projects for the public, the concept of thermal comfort in museums is often treated after the realization. Even if in the design, the architect shows a particular intention to work with daylight which is considered for these projects as main, the architect often considers certain elements that have an influence on the energy balance of these projects such as: orientation, building materials. The museum route is the key to the success of any museum project, it is the space of the visitor, the space in which he is invaded by sensations. In this study, we will first evaluate the thermal comfort in the museum as a whole (building) and then through its route. The objective is to guide reflection in the design of the museum towards the route in order to reduce energy consumption. In order to carry out our study, some European museums were analysed by means of simulation, according to the thermal comfort of their designs for the most unfavourable conditions, then by a thermal analysis of the museum route according to the segmentation principle using the average radiant temperature. This method allowed us to bring out correspondences between the architectural form and the route. Finally, the segmentation method constitutes the basis of a new methodological approach called "thermal topology" based on the discontinuities of the temperatures in the route.

Renzo Piano was born in 1937 in Genoa, Italy into a family of construction companies. He taught at the Milan Polytechnic and Architectural Association School in London. In 1971, he won a contest to design the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, which broke with traditional architecture. Notable projects include the Pompidou Centre, Garrone House, and Centro Paul Klee museum. The Lecco Campus of the Politecnico di Milano welcomes this year the first Summer School of the Laboratorio Nervi. Inspired by the work of the great Italian designer and builder Pier Luigi Nervi (Sondrio, June 21st 1891 - Rome, January 9th 1979), the Laboratorio Nervi is being developed as a centre for study and analysis on the great issues of knowledge and conservation as well as restoration and valorisation of the twentieth century architecture. As for 2018, the Laboratorio Nervi Summer School will explore all these themes focusing on the critical, structural and technological aspects, within the framework of the European
year of cultural heritage.

With a background in projects spanning more than 40 years, Tim Lyons specialised in the delivery of large, complex, multi-disciplinary programmes for clients including Crossrail, Network Rail, ExxonMobil, Siemens and in patent development. His first career was in broadcasting, where he designed and built commercial radio station studios in Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol, also working as a presenter and programme producer. Tim now writes and presents extensively on matters relating to the human and neurological aspects of projects, including communication, ethics and coaching. Aalok is a member of APMs Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APMs PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMOs within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.
