Why in the Desert? Up to 85% of us will live in cities by 2050, and will have little contact with nature. Provides us time to think and reflect. A place where mobile phones do not work; no doors, no masks to hide behind, a place to be ourselves, a place where fashion does not matter. A place where we are not in control, and sometimes, not top of the food chain. Good place for adventures and explorations.

- #3: These are the four main organisations that make Connecting Cultures happen; the Sultan Qaboos (the ruler of Oman) Cultural Centre in Oman, the MBI Al Jaber Foundation in London (who have supported Connecting Cultures since it began in 2004), and the Oman National Commission to UNESCO, and the Ministry of Education in Oman without the support of these organisations, the programme would not run.
