This group has had a very successful first year helping their community. They provided weekend food for 89 children through their BackPack Program. They raised nearly $1,000 through a field day event and sold the most golf ball drop tickets in 8 years, raising over $1,500. They surpassed their goal of providing 50,000 snacks to students by giving out 72,424 snacks across New York state. They inspired hope by giving Christmas gifts to 36 people with mental health issues. Thanks to partnerships, they also provided personal care items and mittens to many children and residents. In just one year, this group has accomplished a great deal in helping others.

Happy One Year Anniversary to us!
What an awesome group of individuals!
Well its official our group is one year old, yesterday. I was looking through our minutes and our
first meeting took place on January 28TH of 2014. One year ago a group of caring individuals
came together for a common cause and that was to help others. What we have done in a short
time is simply remarkable.
This is what we have accomplished:
BackPack Program A success: 89 children now receive a weekend supply of food (Thank you to
all who took it upon themselves to conduct fundraisers and secure child sponsors)
Field Day Event- A success: The event raised nearly $1,000.00
Golf Ball Drop: A success: 1,500 tickets sold- the most ever, in the last eight years, since the
fundraiser began.
Fueling Kids Project (A statewide project)- A success: The goal was to provide 50,000 snacks to
students across New York State. We surpassed our goal and provided 72,424 snacks to students
in New York State.
Inspire Hope Campaign A success: 36 individuals suffering from some form of Mental Health
issue received 3-4 items for Christmas.
Community Support of the BackPack Program also contributed to our success.
Thanks to the support of 1199 SEIU and the NYS Nurses Association, we were able to provide
children enrolled into the BackPack Program with personal care items for Christmas.
Thanks to Chris Hagan. We were able to provide mittens to:
All students enrolled in the BackPack Program
36 individuals living in BHSNs Community Residence
177 Children in Head Start
As you can see my statement above is correct- What an awesome group of individuals! So, I am
a day late and a dollar short in recognizing this momentous event. I must apologize.
I am wishing my team a belated Happy Anniversary. I want you to know how appreciative I am
for all the work everyone has done and continues to do.
Many, Many Thanks!
