CEC was founded in 2011 to create an environment for students to improve English skills through activities. Over the past year, CEC held weekly meetings with activities like presentations, organized contests celebrating events, hosted talks on preparing for IELTS, conducted volunteer outreach programs, and planned large-scale events. Financially, CEC spent $909 on meetings, contests, talks, and outreach over the past year. CEC looks forward to continuing to provide opportunities to help students develop English abilities and connections.

6. * Overview:
CECs offline meetings are held every Sunday morning. It is a
perfect time for CECers to participate in interesting activities, share
knowledge and exchange precious experience.
* Activities:
In the first semester of academic year 2013 2014, twelve offline
meetings were successfully organized, aiming at creating a convenient
environment for students to practise English and other necessary
skills.
With the help of English teachers, particular topics involved in
critical thinking, pechakucha method for presentations, mind
mapping, IELTS preparation, 21st
skills and other relaxing outdoor
activities made great impact on students, especially freshmen.
Through these meaningful actitivies, CEC has gained significant
concern of students as well as support from teachers and certain
organizations

CEC CONTESTS
* Overview:
CEC contests are held to celebrate special days and promote students
special abilities. In this term, two competitions were successfully
organized: writing contest for Vietnamese Teachers Day and CCs got
talent.
* Activities:
The writing contest was held in October, 2013. This year, CEC received a
great number of writings in both English and Vietnamese from nearly
one hundred candidates. Finally, one first prize, one second prize and
two third prizes were awarded for four outstanding faces for their
excellent works.
The second contest, CECs got talent, attracted many gifted students since
an online annoucement was posted on Facebook on May, 18, 2013. There
were ten contestants performing their talents for singing and playing
musical instruments. The competition ended up with one first prize, one
second prize and one third prize.
With many enthusiastic supporters, CEC will definitely organize more
contests for students to express their own special personality and talents
8. CEC TALKSHOW* Overview:
Talkshow is a regular activity which is held every month in a term. In a
talkshow, CEC invites the special guests to talk, to introduce or to share
knowledge about the new things which are useful for English learners.
* Activities:
With the aim of preparing and getting high score on an IELTS test, CEC
successfully held the Talkshows about IELTSs topic. The strategies and
experiences of taking IELTS test were shared by the young instructors of
SFL: Ms. Tran Thi Ngan, Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, Ms. Tran Thi Thu HUong,
Ms. Pham Hung Thuyen who got impressing scores on IELTS test.
There were many students attending CECs talkshow. This number
increased gradually each time it was held, which was the clearly proof of
the attractiveness of CECs Talkshows.
The above Talkshows provided CECers and English learners of SFL with
the useful and valuable information about IELTS examination, which is a
big challenge for every student.
In the next term, CEC is promising to hold many other special Talkshows
with more professional activities

9. CEC OUTREACH* Overview:
Outreach activities are the voluntary ones organized to help students
from other schools in particular aspects: education, environment,
information, technology, etc. In this term, CEC held two big special
events at CEC-Duong Tu Minh high school and Quyet Thang Secondary
school.
* Activities:
At Duong Tu Minh high school, CEC and CEC-Duong Tu Minh, which is a
small linked club with CEC, organized a photo contest about the best
moments in school. This is a chance for students of Duong Tu Minh high
school to show their talent and to adore their school.
At Quyet Thang secondary school, the first time ever, CEC created and
held a voluntary campaign named Teach English To Disadvantaged
Children . In a month of voluntary at Quyet Thang secondary school,
CECers taught English to the disadvantaged students here. Moreover,
many outdoor activities were held, which brought Quyet Thang
secondary schools students and the volunteer teachers of CEC close
together

11. CEC EVENTS* Overview:
CEC events are held with the aim at getting students involved in large-
scale programs outside the classroom so that their communicating skills
and leadership can be remarkably improved.
* Activities:
In the last 3 months, CEC successfully organized 2 big events, namely
Guiding Star and Christmas Day. In October, the Guiding Star, a
ceremony took place at the big hall of SFL to welcome all freshmen from
different majors. This activity inspired students with can do spirit and
encourage them to not only study hard but also join English club to make
a great progress when learning at University. Additionally, both teachers,
foreign guests and many students had a good time participating in
Christmas celebration with CEC in December, 2013. It was considered a
united moment for everybody and we all said happy new year to each
other cheerfully
