Professional negligence in health care is not unheard of, in fact many patients every year fall victim due to professional negligence in hospitals.
Theres a common thought that only your average person gets caught up in professional negligence by doctors, well I can tell you about a few cases where celebrities have been the victim of professional negligence in health care.
MICHAEL JACKSON The death of Michael Jackson is probably one of the most famous cases of negligence. His doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray admitted to violating standard medical procedures by prescribing him with such powerful painkillers that they eventually caused his tragic death.
LESLIE ASH Leslie Ash is an actress who was left paralysed for months after contracting the superbug MSSA. She caught MSSA whilst at Chelsea andWestminster Hospital from a strain of MRSA from an epidural needle which came loose. She won 贈5 million compensation from making a professional negligence claim.
JULIE ANDREWS Best known for playing main roles including Mary Poppins and MariaVonTrapp inThe Sound Of Music, Julie Andrews believes her operation was botched claiming she has been left without certain vocal chords after the procedure. Julie Andrews sued, and the doctor settles the professional negligence claim in the year 2000.
DONDA WEST DondaWest isnt technically famous but her son KayneWest is a well known American rapper. After undergoing a series of plastic surgery procedures, complications lead to her death in 2007.
ANNA NICOLE SMITH Anna Nicole was a supermodel who got her fame from doing playboy cover shoots. Her death was due to professional negligence in heath care as tests proved that the 11 prescriptions she was taking led to her death.
HULK HOGAN Hogan is a famous wrestler who sued a spinal care facility and several doctors for undergoing surgical procedures which he said were unnecessary. He filed a medical negligence claim for $50,000 because the surgeries left him in a destabilised state causing him to lose income as he couldnt wrestle.
DENNIS QUAID After his wife gave birth to two twins, they were each given a fatal overdose of Heparin to help cure their medical condition.The family put forward a professional negligence claim and won $750,000 in compensation.
JOHN RITTER John Ritter is an American comedian who died in 2003 after medicals failed to diagnose Aortic Dissection which later resulted in his death.
KYLE MINOGUE In 2005, doctors failed to diagnose singer Kylie Minogues breast cancer.
