CELT Recording
Studio
The CELT recording studio has recently been fully
refitted and refurbished. This state-of-the-art digital
recording space is now taking bookings as a fully
managed service.
On a studio project, CELT staff work with you
throughout, from planning and scripting, through to
facilitating your recording and managing any post-
production requirements.
The Studio is located on the ground floor of the Arts
Millennium Building.

Within the studio there are two
main spaces
 The Control Room  two staff
members, contains the vision
mixer, sound desk, talkback
 The Recording Room

Technologies
TriCaster TC1
The TriCaster is our vision
mixer, designed as a 'TV studio in a
computer' by Newtek. It allows the
mixing in of multiple live and
recorded feeds into one single output
and the overlay of content on top.
It also allows cameras to be
positioned, and the setting of
multiple shots.
TriCaster TC1 is the only video
production system to feature direct
Skype TX software integration.
E-Glass
eGlass is an illuminated transparent writing
glass with a built-in camera, that captures
your face and writing in the same picture.
How it works
 Integrated camera captures writing and
teachers face
 The image is flipped so writing reads left-
to-right
 Connects to computer via USB cable
 LED lighting is injected into glass
 Live video is displayed on projector or flat
panel
 Any existing lesson plans, any format can be
brought on eGlass and written on

Autoscript Prompter
A prompter placed on one of the cameras within the studio allows the recording of
scripted content easily and professionally.
The Autoscript software enables us to upload your script to the prompter and allows
you to view your script as you look down the camera.
Autoscript prompting allows us to control the speed, and size of your script.

Ceiling Imaging Camera: Wolfvision EYE-14
Versatile live image camera system
WolfVision'sEYE-14 Live Image camera system is as a Ceiling Visualizer which enables us
to record documents, objects or similar.

Scenarios
Scenario 1
Promo piece
Brief: ine wants to create a high-
quality promotional video piece for
an online module for which she is the
co-ordinator.
She would like to record a piece-to-
camera with a title and some
content.
In the Studio: ine presents a piece
to camera at the green screen zone.
ine can use the Autoscript software
which has her prepared & practised
script. Content can be mixed in and
used in the output.
Scenario 2
Objects or Artefacts
Brief: Naomi is a running a field school with the
School of Geography, Archaeology and Irish Studies.
She would like to create a video presenting and
describing a collection of artefacts that the Team has
unearthed.
In the Studio: Naomi can present a piece to camera
with the greenscreen and use the Wolfvision imaging
camera to record the artefacts.
Any complimentary content can be mixed into the
output.
Scenario 3
Conference Discussion
Brief: David is involved in a European
project on Sustainability and is
hosting a number of experts at a
meeting in Galway.
He wants to record a panel
discussion which will be shown as
part of a conference later in the year,
and be re-used within a number of
modules as a teaching aid.
In the Studio: Participants are
recorded in the newsdesk zone with
a multi-camera, multi-shot output.
Scenario 4  Audio
Brief: Simone works in Speech & Language Therapy.
She needs to record some high-quality audio of
specific language sentences for a research project
shes working on.
Brief: Niall from The Centre for Irish Studies has a
prestigious author and poet visiting campus. For the
archive, he would like to have the guest author record
an extract from one of his texts in the Studio.
In the Studio: In both cases the participants will be
micd up in the sound-proofed recording area.
Scenario 5
Re-usable content
Brief: D坦nal would like to create a presentation style
recording explaining an important threshold concept
that his students struggle with each year.
In the Studio: D坦nal will use the green screen zone.
He can control any prepared slides on our
laptop/display screen. All the the PTC and content will
be mixed into the output. Students access the
recording on Blackboard and it can be used as part of
a flipped learning approach, or as a useful revision
aid.
Scenario 6  Hybrid Recording
Brief: Jean has a colleague visiting from another HE
institution. She would like to record an interview with
them while they are on campus. They want to include
a third person in the conversation who is based in
Spain.
In the Studio: Jean and her visiting colleague are
recorded at the News Desk zone with a multi-camera,
multi-shot output. Their virtual colleague is mixed
into the feed with SkypeTx.
Scenario 7
Brief: James from Physics wants
to find a re-usable way to
explain a number of key
concepts as part of an online
course.
In the studio: eGlass is used to
record short high-quality
explanations of the concepts
which allows him to speak to
the students while he works
through equations on the glass.
These are used within online
lessons as part of the course.
