WSQ CERTIFICATE IN PROCESS TECHNOLOGY (CHEMICAL PRODUCTION) COURSE DESCRIPTION This program provides that participant with base level competence in the operation of a petrochemical process plant, with a special emphasis on safety, safety processes and procedures. It further provides participants with real life on shift experience of operating a plant under all conditions in a safe and controlled environment. Additionally, process fundamentals and major equipment items are studied and practical safe operation training is given prior to a practical, competence based assessment against industry standards which results in the award of the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification Certificate in Process Technology (Chemical Production). COURSE OBJECTIVES FOR WHOM To prepare participants to safely and competently operate Persons seeking entry to the petrochemical industry as a basic equipment, control devices and facilities commonly process technician by: found on a petrochemical process plant. New entrant Demonstration of competence in the application of Conversion from other industry sector safety processes and procedures. Skills Enhancement for person already in the industry Demonstration of competence in the safe operation and control of processes, vessels pumps and equipment in a PRE-REQUISITES petrochemical plant. The assumed skills and knowledge for this unit are as follows. Participants are assumed to: COURSE OUTLINE Be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a Participants will undertake the following competencies: proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 4 1. Apply teamwork in the workplace Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level 2. Apply workplace safety and health practice equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) level 4 3. Initiate, relay and respond to information in plant Successful completion of Aptitude Testing /worksite 4. Work in accordance with an issued permit COURSE LEADER 5. Monitor and operate process parameters The course leader is an accredited instructor and assessor. 6. Operate pumps and associated equipment 7. Use utilities and services AWARD OF SOA / CERTIFICATE 8. Use process drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued for the successful completion of each competency. The Certificate MODES OF ASSESSMENT will be awarded upon the successful completion of Training and Assessment Pathway Statements of Attainment for the competencies listed in the Assessment-Only Pathway Course Outline.
