Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Traffic

What's incredible is that over half of what I find to be the problem with solving a traffic problem is in solving the perception
the person I'm talking to has with the possibility of getting visitors to their site. For whatever reason it is, they just can't see
their site on the first page of Google for their keyword, or that they could market their site to possible clients with traffic that
doesn't come from search engines.

These psychological hurdles typically fall into three categories.

  1. They think any reasonable level of traffic expectation is a scam. I don't mean the possibility of 10,000 visitors a day. I'm
talking, I do a rough sketch of how to get from no visitors to a hundred visitors a day and they think it cant happen
     without force or bodily harm.
  2. They want a miracle out of me. When I tell them their traffic target is a pipe dream, they offer me triple my quoted rate
to "try", as if money were the only factor in getting visitors to a site. If that were the case, everyone would buy pay per
click traffic and be done with it.

When I refuse, they offer me even more money. (I know. Boo hoo, Tinu, your Mercedes doesn't match your purse either,
does it? It might not sound like a real problem, but you like having clients you can actually help, right?) It's sad when, if
they'd face the reality, and get a real traffic plan, they'd make more money.
  3. They have a realistic goal, but aren't willing to put in the effort and/or expense it takes to get there. Of course, getting
traffic to your site isn't always going to cost you money

Now, again, not everyone I agree to talk to fits into these categories.

But of the ones that do, it's frustrating to come across a person whose problem you can solve, but who won't listen to reason,
logic, or basic common sense.

I know. I should be more nice about it, right?

If nice worked in getting the idea across about this, I wouldn't be writing this. Nice, I've tried. Sometimes, for some people, in
some situations, myself included, bluntness is what works. If it means that I'll have helped someone turn their site-related
sales around, then what the hell do we care what people think, right?

Right. So in the next part, I'll talk about what's wrong with all these level of traffic insanity.

                                                                                                                      page 1 / 1
