- 2. What Was the Problem? A local community had received funding for Christmas lighting in their local town. They needed to consult fully with the community and then manage the buying and the installation of the lighting. The town was Invergordon, a port town on the Cromarty Firth with one of the widest high streets in Scotland. 21/04/2014 copyright Melanie Newdick
- 3. What Did I Do? I worked with a local committee to identify options for street lighting. One of the first things the group had to get to grips with was that cross street lighting was not suitable given the width of the street and the age of the lamposts to which lighting would be fixed. I researched Christmas lighting projects throughout the UK to gain inspiration and learn what worked in other areas. I then researched lighting companies to see who would be able to supply the lighting for our project. Having narrowed down the suppliers I worked with several lighting companies to come up with some costed options and designs for Invergordon High Street. - 4. What Did I Achieve? Repackaged the project to install lighting through 80% of the High Street with the budget available. Got robust feedback on the project from the community. Gave a variety of options to the local community group to reflect on and shortlist. Delivered the project on time and on budget.
