This document provides tips for selecting a fresh Christmas tree and keeping it fresh once home. It advises to inspect the trunk for dryness or damage, bend needles to check flexibility, and bump the bottom of the trunk on the ground to check for loose needles, as signs of a fresh tree. Inspect the sawn end of the

The tree is fresh if the trunk
appears moist and full of sap.
It deteriorates rapidly if dry.
Step #3: THE SAP
Extend the trees freshness by placing it in water immediately after arriving home.
Lift the tree and bump
the trunk bottom on the
ground several times.
If large numbers of green
needles dislodge, the tree
is deteriorating.
