This document outlines a web quest assignment asking students to create a propaganda poster either promoting the Nazi movement or with an anti-Semitic message. It explains that the goal is to help students understand Nazi propaganda by having them create a poster without agreeing with the message. Students are provided definitions of propaganda and examples to review to inform their poster's concept and design, which will each be graded out of 5 points. The introduction states that Nazi Germany extensively used propaganda in the 1930s to recruit supporters and promote anti-Semitism.

Web Quest
Introduction: Propaganda has been used throughout history as people have attempted to
get others to believe what they do. Nazi Germany took this to a new level with their use
of propaganda throughout the 1930s in order to get people to join their cause, and unite
against the Jewish race.
Task: You are required to make your own propaganda poster that must involve one of
two things, persuade people to join the Nazi movement, or an anti-Jewish message. You
must create this poster using a power point slide. This assignment will help you to
understand the basics of propaganda and you can apply it. This assignment also allows
you to create a poster that you do not particularly agree with, with helps you to
understand why the Nazis were such a radical group.
Process: To create this poster, you must first understand what propaganda is.
Definition of propaganda: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/propaganda
You will also be provided with some examples of Nazi Propaganda, your posters
obviously shouldnt be as nice as these, just something to give you an idea of what I am
looking for:

Evaluation: This assignment is only worth 10 points and there are only two things that
will be graded based off my own judgment. The concept/message will be worth 5 points
and the design of the poster will be worth 5 points.
Conclusion: Now you how Nazi Germany used propaganda to promote their message.
Propaganda was also used by many other people during that time period including
America when they went to war with Germany in the 1940s. Propaganda can be a useful
technique, but we must be wary of its risks.
