The document discusses teaching holiday traditions to a 4th grade class of 20 students from diverse religious backgrounds, including 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish students, and 2 African American students. The teacher plans to teach about the holidays in a non-biased way using pictures and textbooks to explain traditions to avoid offending students of different faiths. Students will create posters about each holiday and take turns explaining traditions to their classmates. Their understanding will be evaluated through in-class activities rather than tests.

1. Teaching the holiday’s traditions to 4th graders. There are 20 students 11 girls
and 9 boys. There are 2
Muslims, 3 Jewish, and 2 African Americas.
My Assure Method:
A: In terms of analyzing the learners, you obviously must take in to
consideration the different religions
of the students. Given, there are those students who have their different
religions, and I am assuming
the other students are of basically all the same religions. Seeing as those have
different religions,
teaching the holidays will have to be with ease and restrictions in some sort to
not make it all about
those who celebrate those holidays. Some learners may be more interested in
their own holidays that
only their religions celebrates so will have to explain the other holidays non
biased and very informative.
To avoid the biases that could occur, the students will have to explain a
certain holiday that is not a
traditional holiday they may celebrate.
S: The objective of teaching the students the holidays will be to have them
recite all the holidays within
a week by using pictures. When they see a picture they will be able to talk
about what holiday it is and
what you may do to celebrate. This will be done in 90% accuracy.
S: The materials available will be most likely experiences by the teacher and
through history books as
well. Since teachers have to be very careful about how they talk about holiday’s
in a classroom, the
students will have to learn mostly through textbooks and history as well as
information they find on the
internet. They will be explaining the holidays in a non-biased way. Students
will create posters of each
holiday and can use those posters to help remember the holidays with ease.
U: The media could be used to enhance children’s knowledge of researching and
finding material that is
factual.
R: Activities that could be used to continue to know the material would be to
pick a student each week
to stand up at the beginning of class and tell them a holiday to explain or have
them dress up to the
tradition and explain the holiday. You could even have the whole class do so.
E: Evaluate the students and how well they know the material but evaluating how
well they can describe
the holiday traditions. No tests, just evaluate the activities you do in class
and see how well they are
comprehending and explaining the holiday traditions.
