Todd Gardner, VP of Safety and Risk Solutions at Aramark Corporation, discussed the impact of supply chain transparency on consumer health and wellness. He noted that consumers have changing tastes and behaviors as well as allergens and food intolerances that require sharing of macro data. Ensuring the health and wellness of consumers is challenging due to the complexity of supply chains and systems, but focusing on consumers and educating food operators is critical to "getting it right."

Presentation prepared for the Nexus conference on the Internet of Things and the factors that drive Technology Adoption. Focus on Big Data, Digital Supply Chains and Internet of Things.
Drivers of supply chain transformation (why), characteristics of evolving supply chains as adaptive supply networks (what), and (how) principles to accelerate the transformation.
In few years only, Supply Chain Management became one of the trendiest topic for organizations facing globalized markets. But in parallel it also remained one of the foggiest topic for managers at every level.
To develop Managers' level of understanding, let's review the main tendencies forging Supply Chains in 2017.
This document discusses lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic for supply chains. It emphasizes embracing data and investing in new forms of analytics. The pandemic highlighted the importance of organizational alignment, analytics, and inventory management. It also showed that companies with digital transformation strategies did better. Going forward, companies need to redefine time horizons, address latency issues, and imagine customer-centric supply chains of the future.
Research analysis on future of supply chain, information gathered through secondary research, articles, press releases, etc.
Digital transformation is one of the important aspect while predicting the future of supply chain management
Major trends that will derive the change in current supply chain are growth in urbanization, e Commerce, congestion, changing consumer behavior and the utilization of containers

Responsive supply chain: sensitive to customer requirementsHarender Singh
Ìý
A responsive supply chain is one that is designed to be sensitive to customer requirements, market changes, and other external factors that can impact the demand for a product or service. This type of supply chain is designed to quickly adapt to changes in demand, which allows businesses to better meet the needs of their customers and stay competitive in their industry.
To create a responsive supply chain, businesses need to implement several key strategies. These include:
Building strong relationships with suppliers: A responsive supply chain relies on a network of reliable suppliers that can quickly adapt to changes in demand. Businesses need to build strong relationships with these suppliers to ensure that they can quickly deliver the materials and products needed to meet customer demand.
Using real-time data and analytics: To be responsive, businesses need to have real-time data on customer demand, inventory levels, and other key factors that impact the supply chain. Using analytics tools can help businesses identify patterns and trends that can inform decisions about inventory management, production planning, and other key areas.
Emphasizing flexibility and agility: A responsive supply chain needs to be flexible and agile to quickly adapt to changes in demand. This means having the ability to ramp up production when demand is high and scale back when demand is low.
Leveraging technology: Technology can play a key role in creating a responsive supply chain. For example, using automation and robotics can help businesses streamline production and reduce lead times, while cloud-based platforms can provide real-time visibility into the supply chain.
Overall, a responsive supply chain is critical for businesses that want to stay competitive in today's fast-paced and ever-changing marketplace. By implementing the right strategies and leveraging technology, businesses can create a supply chain that is sensitive to customer requirements and able to quickly adapt to changes in demand.
Supply Chain Management has evolved over time with frequent inputs from strategic innovations, technology changes and connectivity paradigms. It will continue to be so in coming decades when IIoT, Machine Learning , 3D Printing and Blockchain technologies mature. As the market place moves towards mass customising SCM professionals need to adopt more and more of Gray thinking rather than the conventional black or white approach.

The document discusses Elemica's logistics solutions and their value in helping companies achieve supply chain excellence. It describes how Elemica can help increase velocity, agility, reliability, and efficiency through solutions like time slot management, global shipment visibility, transport execution, and logistics sourcing. The document estimates that Elemica's solutions can save companies $265-$325 per shipment in automation and collaboration savings, lower labor costs, and lower freight costs by improving carrier negotiations and reducing charges. This leads to an estimated reduction in cost per shipment from $2356 to $2061 for US companies and from €1505 to €1327 for European companies when using Elemica.

This document discusses how analyzing supply chain data at the stock keeping unit (SKU) level can help optimize supply chain performance. It argues that SKU-level visibility into areas like demand, suppliers, and logistics can help reduce costs, missed sales, and emissions while improving collaboration. The document uses a case study of a furniture company to show how SKU analysis identified opportunities to cut container usage, expenses, and carbon emissions without compromising on-time delivery. It positions Zencargo as a supply chain optimization platform that provides SKU-level data analytics and services to help companies gain insights and efficiencies in their supply chains.

Getting your beautiful supply chain concert of coordination interrupted is going to happen sometime. Supply chain disruptions are inevitable – from superstorms, human illness epidemics to factory fires, child labour and cyber-attacks. Managing risks that cause unpredictable supply chain disruptions have moved past the purview of operational risk managers to the C-suite and corporate boards, where they are increasingly being held accountable for organizational risk. The goal of this paper is to assist the chief supply chain officer to set an agenda for identifying supply chain vulnerabilities and risks, and how to develop a plan and countermeasures for these.
This document discusses 3 tips for improving supply chain predictability. It recommends (1) identifying vulnerable supply chain segments, (2) investing in digital capabilities like data collection and analytics tools, and (3) using data analytics to gain insights into potential disruptions and their impacts. Adopting these tips helps companies gain visibility, responsiveness, and flexibility to navigate uncertainties.

Today, organisations face tremendous pressures. Controlling costs and improving efficiencies remain high priorities. This presentation explores how shippers and logistics providers co-create value to optimise supply chains.
The document discusses the findings of a study on manufacturing and sourcing trends in 2020. It found that companies expect to increase collaboration with suppliers, outsource more standardized production, and source from a greater number of global locations. To manage increasingly complex supply chains, companies plan to use more sophisticated IT systems and subcontract additional production while maintaining local management oversight.

This document discusses challenges in dangerous goods logistics during the Covid-19 pandemic. It outlines several dangerous goods incidents at sea in 2019 caused by misdeclared or undeclared cargo. Possible reasons for incidents include regulatory gaps, improper cargo securing and packaging, and lack of fire protection systems on some vessels. Tools are available to manage dangerous goods, but supply chain complexities have increased under Covid-19 due to budget constraints, lack of technology adoption, and limited resources. Remote training and upgraded technology are suggested for moving forward during the pandemic.

Article review by Liben Tsegaye |PhD student in DRMD , AAU|EGCDWO
Ìý
This article review critically assesses a study on the decentralization of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in Ethiopia, focusing on the Oromia region. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the article's methodology, findings, and policy implications, as well as to offer recommendations for further research. The method for the review was content and comparative analysis. The article employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative content analysis and quantitative statistical tools such as STATA version 14 to analyze data from government representatives. Major findings reveal that while decentralization of DRM is better understood at higher administrative levels, its effectiveness is limited due to challenges in training, technology, collaboration, and local capacity. The article highlights that administrative decentralization is more effective than fiscal or political decentralization. However, the research has notable weaknesses, including a limited sample size and reliance on participants' opinions rather than objective indicators measurement, leading to superficial findings. The review suggests that the research methodology could be improved with secondary data and a case study approach to gain a more comprehensive understanding of DRM decentralization. Recommendations for further research are made, emphasizing the need for a more robust analysis and actionable policy guidance.
