Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur, banker,
economist and civil society leader who was awarded the Nobel Peace
Prize for founding of the Grameen Bank.
Yunus together with 3 others founded Yunus Social Business  Global
Initiatives (YSB) which creates and empowers social businesses to
address and solve social problems around the world.
In 2012, he became Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University in
Scotland.
Yunus has won a Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional
Gold Medal.
Nelson Mandela was South Africa's first black chief executive, and the
first elected in a fully representative democratic election.
Mandela negotiated with President F. W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid
and establish multiracial elections in 1994.
He led the ANC to victory and became South Africa's first black
president.
He also investigated past human rights and fought for the poor, so
that poverty will become history.
He is still greatly respected by not just his own country but also the
world because of his selflessness.
Professor Muhammad Yunus is an example of a person who
helped fight poverty.
He saw firsthand how the loansharks enslaved the villagers and
came up with the initiative to help the people in Jobra.
He created the Grameen Bank Project ,arranged loans, and
added a savings program.
He taught people how to write and created the Grameen Bank.
Educational loans allow children to study to become engineers
and doctors and many have completed their education.
Grameen Bank has benefited so many people that it received
the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.
Nelson Mandela is another person who fought against poverty.
Mandela lived simply and donated a third of his 552,000 rand
annual income to the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund.
He also introduced parity in grants for communities, including
disability grants, child maintenance grants, and old-age
pensions.
Free healthcare was also introduced for children under six and
pregnant women.
Due to his policies, children were brought into the education
system, clinics were upgraded or constructed , water access
was extended to 3 million people, and 750,000 houses were
constructed, housing nearly 3 million people.
