Volunteers around the world are implementing short, practical projects at the community level to help achieve Millennium Development Goals through grassroots action. Approaches include using social networking to mobilize volunteers, presenting MDGs and climate change adaptation as the focus of community action, and technology-enabled transparency and accountability tools. This results in increased civic engagement, earlier risk identification and adaptation, and improved public resource allocation.
