- 4. TASK Climate change in Anytown Project Scenario Anytown, a coastal town at the mouth of a river, has been flooded. This is the biggest flood on record. The local river has burst its banks for the third time in the last ten years, and on each occasion, increased storminess has caused the sea to come over the sea wall. In the previous 25 years the river flooded twice. People's homes have been flooded, schools have been closed, factories and local businesses have been ruined and hospitals have suffered the ill-effects of floodwater too. The local paper has stated that flooding is being made worse by rising sea levels. Your advice is sought by the townspeople. You have three weeks to prepare a report based around their concerns below . a) Why is this happening more often to this town? b) How can the community plan for future floods? c) Is flooding likely to worsen in the town in years to come? d) How can the townspeople help to reduce the likelihood of such extreme weather events in the future?
