Climate change is expected to have wide-reaching effects on Pakistan through more frequent extreme weather events like floods, droughts, glacial lake bursts, cyclones and heat waves. These extreme events have already taken a heavy toll on lives and property in Pakistan and have adversely impacted its economic growth. However, Pakistan contributes very little to global greenhouse gas emissions, less than 1% of the total, which is among the lowest in the world.
