The document discusses various cloud services like video on demand, file transfer, news groups, email, and more. It states that providers cannot offer all services due to considerations around cost, complexity, scalability, security, and cost of development. Providers must select which services to focus on and excel at rather than trying to be all things to all customers in the cloud services market.

#2: Topic Title - WAN Applications Issues Objective - Explain WAN applications issues Key Conceptual Points Why this is important - This is a strategic planning tool for management to review how much money they want to spend on key internet and WAN applications. That is, management needs to understand that the more complex the application, the cost and bandwidth would increase significantly. In this slide, the intent is to show a sample of the many varied and complex services that cross wide area networks. As you saw in the last slide, user traffic just a few years ago was primarily internal, now it is primarily external. Thus designing networks is vastly more complex than ever before. It is not just that users are going to many more different servers, the types of information they access and are also sent or broadcast to them is far more complex. The other factor adding to this complexity is time - when do you need that information, when does it need to get there, and how critical is that time element - soon, today, tomorrow, now, maybe now. These are the some of the elements in designing and managing wide area networks. Supplemental Information Tip Beyond Basics Reminder
