Concept & Theme Food is a central activity of mankind and one of the single most significant trademarks of a culture. -Mark Kurlansky theme Food is one of the most essential part of every humans life and culture. Food culture refers to food as it relates to the history, progression, and future development of society. Food is our common ground, a universal experience. -James Beard concept The reason why sharing is chosen as the concept of the photo book is because I think sharing food with another person is an intimate act that should be capture down as it is such a sweet and joyful thing to indulge in with especially with your loved ones.
Places of Interest PAPA JOHNS When I first thought of using sharing as my concept, I brainstormed about what kind of food is normally shared and pizza was the first thing that popped into my mind. This is because Malaysians normally like to share their pizzas instead of eating a whole pizza by themselves. So, I asked a few course mates of mine to go to Papa Johns in Sunway Pyramid with me because it is one of the nearest pizza restaurant to our university. PJS 7 GROCERY SHOP & PLAYGROUND The second idea was suggested to me by my tutor. She suggested me to get some popsicles or ice-creams and enjoy them with my friends and capture the moment down. And so me and my friends got some old style popsicles from a grocery shop in pjs7 and went to a playground nearby to take some photos. HOHO STEAMBOAT RESTAURANT Lastly, I also thought that steamboat is a type of food that was meant to be shared and it is also one of the local Malaysian chineses favourite. I went to a steamboat restaurant near my house and took photos of people and my family sharing food.
