Espresso is a type of coffee that extracts a small amount of coffee in a short time. It is the base for other coffee drinks. Caffe con panna is espresso topped with whipped cream. A caffe macchiato is espresso with a small amount of foamed milk. Other drinks include an americano made by adding hot water to espresso, a latte made with espresso and steamed milk, a cappuccino with espresso, steamed milk and foam, and a mocha with espresso, chocolate syrup and steamed milk. A latte macchiato layers espresso on top of syrup, milk and foam.
