Coldplay is a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland while they were students at University College London. The band was originally called Pectoralz and then Starfish before taking the name Coldplay in 1998. Coldplay released several EPs in the late 1990s before their 2000 album Parachutes launched them to international success. The band is composed of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion.
