2. Laura the Results Junkie Goal Laura works in multiple areas of specialization that require researching and networking in order to work effectively. Behaviour Prefers working long hours for fewer days but will work any time that an idea strikes. Doesnt carry a work-issued mobile device but people know how to reach her online and on her personal iPhone. Uses web 2.0 tools if and when it makes her life better. Not really an early adopter. Works frequently with people who work in other departments, cities, countries and industries. Attitude Would rather start from someone elses draft than stare at a blank page. Abhors wasting time or energy! Not shy to share drafts and works-in-progress if it will avoid someone else needing to reinvent the wheel.
3. User tasks Laura wishes she could Work from anywhere anytime with the same security and tools that she has at work and the same creativity and flexibility she has at home. Search one place and find everything the GoC is doing on a particular topic. Find public servants by skill, experience, area of expertise or languages spoken, or a combination thereof. Find and read research or policy papers and work-related documents from any department (up to her level of security). Allow others to follow her work, if they want to, by publishing an RSS feed of her blog, micro-blog and status updates in one place, ideally with control of who sees it (open to public, open to all public servants, open to departmental colleagues, or members of a group). Follow feeds from colleagues, departments or by topic as and when relevant. Discuss ideas, propose changes to the status quo and see others discussions. See how colleagues have rated courses, books or conferences (and why) that she may be eligible or interested in taking/reading/attending. all in one place
