1. Directors Identification Number popularly known as DIN is required for
every present and future Director of a Company as per Companies
(Amendment) Act, 2006.
2. If there is any discrepancy in documentation or details provided, the
Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) may ask for submission of further
documents. In some cases application for DIN may be rejected
3. Common causes of DIN rejection
Name of the applicant should be expanded even if the Identity Proof
contains the name in abbreviated form.
Any mismatch in applicants name, including spelling mistake, may lead
to rejection of application.
Use of prefixes like Mr. / Mrs. / Kumari / Kumar / Master / Miss / Shri /
Smt. Etc in the DIN application.
If the documents submitted as residential address proof are older than 2
months of submission of application.
4. Common causes of DIN rejection
If the documents submitted as residential address proof are in the name
of other person such as father, spouse or any other family member.
Different address format
There is no attestation on the supporting documents.
Passport, Driving License or any other identity proof attached to the DIN
application should be currently valid.
