COMMUNICATION
TECHNIQUES
 Communication and public
speaking is a challenge to
many
 There are many factors that
can make a presentation go
wrong
 With good techniques, one
can master the art of public
speaking.
Communication and public speaking
communication
IT IS THE IMPARTING
OR EXCHANGING OF
INFORMATION BY
-SPEAKING
-WRITING -OR USING OTHER
DIFFERENT MEDIUMS
Communicating with
confidence: Jeff Ansell
 Body language
 Tone
 Gestures
 Appearance
Body language
 A confident communicator is grounded
This must show with the body language
What comes out of the mouth should
not contradict with the body language
The use of hands is important
But they should not be a distraction to the
audience
Tone
Ones voice needs to be audible
Everyone in the room is supposed to hear what is being said
Control of tone is important, e.g. if the topic is related to death, the tone
should change
This allows you to connect to the audience emotionally.

Appearance
Presentation is key to a successful
presentation
This means how you dress sets the
tone
Overcoming your fear of
public speaking; Todd Dewett
Its a skill that can be learnt
You need to shape how others see you
You need to get rid of distractions
Do not look directly into your audience's eyes
 Look above their heads
Creating first impression: Vanessa
Van Edwards
First impressions
matter
Colorful presentation
A presentation with pictures keeps the
spectators active and excited
They are able to relate to what is being said
If something does not make sense, the
picture gives a clear demonstration
Do not prepare
your audience
for the worst-
case scenario
Always be positive
Do not assume
something is going to go
wrong
This will make your
audience to loose
confidence in you
Be calm if technical
issues arise
