This document presents a case study on the Communities in Schools (CIS) program at a primary and elementary school campus. It discusses the CIS goals of dropout prevention and community involvement. It also provides background on limited data at elementary schools and using a holistic approach for at-risk students. The study examines how CIS interacts with the schools and what constitutes success. Through observation, interviews and surveys with administrators, faculty, students and parents, it analyzes issues at each campus and provides recommendations. It suggests further study on relationships between CIS, response to intervention programs, and longitudinal student achievement data.
