- 2. INTRODUCTION: IMATEC is in the business of selling, installing, and maintaining medical systems in Syria since 1997. It is owned by a group of well experienced servi ce engineers in the medical field. It has always distinguished itself in after sales services. Our guarantee up time of more than 95% on such equipment like gamma camera, PET/CT, linear accelerator, simu lator, cobalt, and CT has won us an excellent reputation in the market. HISTORY: Established in 1997 by two medical service engineers with a total experience of 52 years in the Syrian medical equipment market. The company was to start first with selling and maintaining preowned Siemens CT scanners, giving the customer one year warranty on the equipment. Sin ce then it sold and maintained more than 14 CT scanners. IMATEC personnel have experience and technical training in the following fields: - Gamma Camera - PET/CT - Linear Accelerator - Simulator - Cobalt 60 therapy systems - Blood Irradiator - UPS systems - MRI - CT - X-RAY - Laser Camera In year 1997, IMATEC represented ADAC laboratories (US company) in Syria and sold one dual head gamma camera to a public sector hospital, Al Bairouni University Hospital (formerly Nuclear Medicine Center), Damascus. In year 2001, it won a tender for one PET and one dual head gamma camera with Coincidence option. Both are the first of their kind in the country. In year 2001, ADAC and Picker were both acquired by Philips Medical Systems (PMS). And due to our excellent reputation in the market, PMS decided to give us the whole nuclear medicine line, which consists of both ADAC and Picker lines. In year 2002 and on, we sold another four (dual head gamma camera) systems from PMS. In year 2006, we sold the first PET/CT in Syria from PMS. In year 2008, we sold the first dedicated cardiac gamma camera from PMS. In year 2008, we sold the first Big Bore 16 slice CT to Tishreen University Hospital, Lattakia. In year 2011, we sold the 6 th dual head gamma camera from PMS to Al Bairouni University Hospital, Damascus. Today, Imatec enjoys 85% of the NM market share in Syria.
- 3. In year 1998, IMATEC represented TREX (US company) in Syria and won a contract for a Cathlab to Al Mouassat Hospital in Damascus. It also sold three simple X-Ray systems from TREX too. In year 1999, IMATEC represented MDS Nordion (recen tly Best Theratronics), the Canadian world market leader in Cobalt 60 therapy systems and bl ood irradiators, and took over the maintenance contracts for the existing equipment in the count ry, and sold two Cobalt 60 systems sources and a patient table for N.M.C (Al Bairouni University Hosp ital), a public sector hospital, which is the only public oncology radiotherapy center in Syria then. In year 2000, we sold a new Cobalt 60 to the same customer. In year 2002, we sold the second Cobalt 60 to the same customer. In year 2006, we sold its first Blood Irradiator to MBC Company. In year 2008, we sold its second Blood Irradiator to Al Amal Technical Company. In year 2008, we sold the third Cobalt 60 in Syria to Tishreen University Hospital, Lattakia. In year 2009, we sold three Cobalt 60 systems sources for Al Bairouni University Hospital. Today, Imatec enjoys 90% of the Cobalt market share in Syria. Today, Imatec enjoys 100% of the blood irradiator market share in Syria. In 1999, IMATEC represented PANTAK, the American / British X-Ray therapy systems in Syria. Got a contract for fixing and maintaining its only system in the country. In year 2000, IMATEC represented Varian Medical Systems (U.S company) for its oncology products. In year 2002, we got the first linear accelerator c ontract for Varian in Syria, and it was sold to Al Bairouni University Hospital (formerly Nuclear Medicine Center), Damascus. In year 2003, we got the second linear accelerator for Varian in Syria for Al Amal Hospital - Homs. This is the first private radiotherapy center in the country. In year 2005, we got the first complete radiotherapy center for Varian in Syria, consisting of linear accelerator, simulator, T.P.S, HDR . etc, for M.O.H Damascus. In year 2006, we got the first simulator for Varian in Syria, and it was sold to Al Bairouni University Hospital (formerly Nuclear Medicine Center), Damascus. In year 2008, we got the second complete radiotherapy center for Varian in Syria, consisting of linear accelerator, simulator, T.P.S, HDR . etc, for Tishreen University Hospital, Lattakia. In year 2009, we got the third complete radiotherapy center for Varian in Syria, consisting of linear accelerator, simulator, T.P.S, . etc, for Syrian Society Against Cancer, Aleppo. Today, Imatec enjoys 79% of the radiotherapy market share in Syria. In year 2000, IMATEC represented PTW Freiberg, the German manufacturer of measurement equipment. We sold four water phantoms and radiation dosimeters to several customers.
- 4. In year 2001, IMATEC represented CIS BIO (French co mpany) for its LDR, and sold its first brachy therapy system in Syria. In year 2003, IMATEC represented Veenstra, the Dutch manufacturer of hotlab and radiation protection control. We sold radiation protection equipment for Al Bairouni University Hospital. In year 2004, IMATEC represented Bebig (recently Pa r-Scientific), the German-Danish manufacturer for mold rooms. We sold three mold rooms for different customers. In 2010, IMATEC represented A2J Laser Technology, th e French manufacturer for lasers for Hi-tech equipment. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES: IMATEC started as a service company and has extended its effort to wo rk as an importer, distributor and representative for all companies in the medical field specially oncology, diagnosis and therapy, for the Syrian market. CUSTOMERS: Due to the long experience of its personnel in the me dical market in Syria, IMATEC was able to use these contacts in starting its business. Since then we had to depend on our reputation in extending our customer base line which ranges now from public and private hospitals to small clinics.
