Our Old Recruitment Challenges
Sonru StandOut 2015
So we interview people wherever they happen to
be and that causes problems.
Telephone 1st round interviews
Bad network connections, local distractions,
costly mobile calls
Face to face 2nd round interviews
Expensive travel costs, inconsistent interview
panels, time consuming for fields involved
Hellocan
you hear
me?
What about Sonru?
We had our reservations
There was initial resistance within Concern to such an impersonal
recruitment tool so what do we do about keeping it personal, and
charitable?
Will aid workers, in the middle of nowhere, be open to such new
technology as part of their working life or will it put them off us?!
Will our very remote candidate's be able to use it?
Sonru StandOut 2015
Our Current Recruitment Process
Rollout phase April 2011
Initially for technical screening & competitive
junior positions
Now Sonru is our 1st round
Video skype or conferencing 2nd round
Sonru StandOut 2015
Our Benefits
For our candidates: flexible completion (helps with our remoteness
problem), ex-pats are skype & tech aware (very little resistance from
candidates), tech advances (connectivity not an issue)
For our recruiters: all stakeholders involved, more informed 1st round
assessment, contributed to improved recruitment times, high response rate
For our organisation: decreases costs and increases efficiency
For our beneficiaries: overall we are better at what we do
Sonru StandOut 2015
How we made Sonru a success
We always create a personal contact with each candidate
We include everyone in the recruitment process
We invite field teams to view new employees before they
arrive in country
We now use Sonru for all international positions
We save money for the organisation
