1. PGF MOURNS THE DEATH OF HID AWOLOWO;
COMMISERATE WITH THE AWOLOWO FAMILY
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing away of Chief (Mrs.)
Hannah Idowu Dideolu (HID) Awolowo, on her passing to eternal glory barely
two months to her centenary celebrations. Mrs. Awolowo was the matriarch
of the dynasty of Yorubas, indeed Nigerias, foremost leader, sage, advocate,
populist and late first Premier of old Western region, Chief Obafemi
Jeremiah Awolowo.
Certainly, HID, as she is fondly called lived more than a fulfilled life. She not
only lived to the very ripe age of 99 years, she is a fully accomplished
Amazon and national icon in her own respect and by every standards
considered. HID lived every bit of her late husbands description, the jewel
of inestimable value.
The governors of the All Progressives Congress do wish to join all well
meaning Nigerians to mourn and especially commiserate with the family,
friends and well wishers on the passing away of mama. Our governors and
leaders will miss her counsel and practical interventions in governance and
national development.
We celebrate her life and affirm our renewed commitments to the ideals,
which herself and her husband lived for and pragmatically promoted
throughout their lives.
Good bye and good night, HID!
Signed,
Owelle Rochas OKOROCHA
