FELIPE PADILLA DE LEON Sr.
 He was born on May 1, 1912 in Pe単aranda
Nueva Ecija and died on December 5, 1992. His
parents were Juan De Leon and Natalia Padilla.
His wife is Illuminada Mendoza and had a six
children.
 He contributed articles to the school paper and
vernacular magazines, and later wrote music
columns for the Manila Times (then known as
Manila Tribune) and Taliba.
 He wrote different compositions entitled Tindig,
Aking Inang Bayan, Bagong Lipunan, Payapang
Daigdig, Noche Buena, Pasko Na Naman. etc.
 He received an award as National Artist for
Music in 1997.
 Felipe is known as a nationalist composers who
expressed the Philippines' cultural identity
through his compositions.
LUCIO DIESTRO SAN PEDRO
 He was born on February 11, 1913 in
Angono, Rizal. His parents were Elpidio San
Pedro and Soledad Diestro. His wife is
Gertrudis San Pedro and they had three
children, Bienvinido San Pedro, Ma.
Cristina San Pedro, and Rhodora San Pedro.
 San Pedro is known as a romantic
nationalist
 His commitment and work in chorale
music,contributed to the vigorous
development of chorale singing and opened
a created outlet to Filipino communities all
over the country.
 Sa Ugoy ng Duyan, Suite Pastorale, Lahing
Kayumanggi are the works of Lucio.
 He was declared National Artist for Music
in 1991.
ROSENDO EJERCITO SANTOS Jr.
 He was born on September 3, 1922 in Caridad,
Cavite City. And passed away on November 4, 1994
in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, USa. He was the
youngest child and only son.His father was
Rosendo Ejercito Santos, Sr., a vigorous politician
who thrice served as mayor of Cavite.
 Rosendo was a prolific composer whose works
include concerti, sonatas, symphonies, symphonic
poems, five operas in a Philippine dialect,
numerousband overtures, and over 200 marches.
 He has more than 1,000 musical compositions in
the library of the University of the Philippines.
 Melindas Masquerade, was performed in 1995, a
year after his death.
ALFREDO SANTOS BUENAVENTURA
 He is a composer, conductor and teacher, and he was
born in sta. Maria, Bulacan on October 14,1929. He
became a band member in his hometown at a young
age. At that time, he also wrote first composition,
Danza.
 He composed over 50 major works including five full
length operas , operettas, dance drama, cantatas,
symphonies, concerti, ballets, overtures, preludes,
fugues, and chamber music.
 His composition and other creative works been
performed abroad by international virtuosi and
religious groups. Among Buenaventura s major
works are operas Maria Makiling (1961), Diego Silang
(1966), and Prinsesa Urduha (1969), cantatas Ang
Ating Watawat (1965) etc.
 Buenaventura s compositional style combines both
contemporary and conventional materials.
 He is the member of the league of Filipino
Composers, and has twice received the republic
Cultural Heritage Awards as well as the Outstanding
Filipino award for music in 1995.
RAYMUNDO CIPRIANO RYAN PUJANTE CAYABYAB
 He was born on May 4 , 1954 in Manila. He obtained
his bachelor of music degree at the University of the
Philippines College of music and became a faculty
member for composition at the same university. He
is a popular contemporary composer who also has
classical composition to his credit, such as Misa,
Four Poems for soprano and Piano, and Te Deum.
 His composition style make much use of
syncopation, extended chords, and chromatic
harmony. He spans both popular and classical
worlds with his pop music, ballads, Operas,
zarzuelas, orchestral arrangements, musical,
masses, psalms, and choral composition.
 He has also produced numerous recordings,
including the memorable album One, where her
personally sang the unaccompanied songs on
different tracks to produce 16 voices.
 CAYABYAB also served as the executive and artistic
director of the San Miguel Foundation for the
performing Arts.
