Days of Darkness uses several conventions in its opening thriller sequence. It creates mystery with black and white effects, unsettling sounds, and jump cuts. It establishes that the entire world is affected and shows the large impact through the voice of the president. Mostly music plays to generate tension, as composed by a group member. Titles overlap the images. The production companies are shown at the start. The opening news report provides context about the narrative without revealing the full plot.

Days of Darkness CONVENTIONS WE USED IN OUR THRILLER OPENING:
CREATE ENIGMA We created enigma with the use of the black and white effect throughout, the suspended music and different sound effects such as static noise and camera editing such as slow motions and jump-cuts
ESTABLISH TO THE AUDIENCE WHO IS INVOLVED It is made clear to the audience that the whole world is effected in our film. It is also shown how big the impact is as we have the voice of the president in it towards the end
MOSTLY MUSIC PREVAIL USE OF MUSIC SUITED TO GENRE Our music was created by a member from our group, Matthew. We wanted the opening to be mostly music prevail as we all felt the music he produced successfully created enigma and tension qualities a thriller should hold
IMAGES/ACTION INTERCUT WITH TITLES We made all our titles overlap images throughout our opening
NAMES OF PRODUCTION COMPANIES AT THE VERY BEGINNING The production companies we came up with are Enigma Productions and Imperial Productions
CLEAR POINTERS TO NARRATIVE; RELEVANT TO GENRE The majority of our narrative was taken from the original news reporter scene we shot, which gives the audience an insight of the our film may be about, without giving away the plot
