For Vickie, the reality of this statistic is all to close. Shes been on the list for a lung transplant since 2004. Her chances of surviving another year are extremely low. Despite her condition she takes her granddaughter to her dance rehearsals three days a week and does her best to stay active.
Discuss how participant observation helped me to understand the many aspects of COPD, how it developed a trust prior to interviewing, and how it helped to develop the questions for our research by listening to the common themes and needs of the patients. Discuss the importance of using ethnographies in research and how patient interviews give us an insiders point of view of the illness Discuss how visual methods puts a face to the statistics
Discuss how Angelas story affected me the most. Her age and how she lived her life.
Discuss some of the statements made during the Better Breathers Group
